Who was the walk-on the Doogs loved that was supposed to get UW Myles Jack and a bunch of players that went elsewhere?
For a month, multiple threads showed up on Dawgman how much they loved this kid and he became their Rudy.
UW didn't get any of the players Rudy was supposed to deliver. Then one day "Rudy" announced his decommitment on Twitter, even though he didn't have an offer.
Wish I had those screenshots...
That all rings a bell and I swear his name is right there but I can't quite come up with it.
Pretty sure it was Ryan Turman
Bingo
Sark seriously fucked that kid over though (per multiple conversations I had with his father).

That's it. Good memory. Those threads were gold. There's some nervous pigeons on this board right now, hoping their posts were proofed forever.
Ryan was an athletic kid from a very young age. His initial entry into sports was on the Diamondback T-Ball team when he was five years old. After realizing that playing around in the dirt was not part of the game, he lost interest quickly. That is when his interest in football started. Influenced by his Dad and paternal Grandfather, Gerald Turman, Husky alumni and avid Husky football fans, Ryan’s interest in football took off and never stopped. He was hooked! Ryan played football on the Bellevue Bears alongside his Brother, Evan all through middle school, then all four years for the Interlake Saints where he also ran track. Prior to and during playing football for the Bellevue Bears, Ryan played chess and acquired a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do where he learned the tenants of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. Unconsciously, he tried his best to live his life according to these principals. Ryan was a true competitor.

Just looked him up on social media to see what he's up to now and it looks like he passed away last year. Damn, RIP.

That seriously sucks. His dad was a longtime Dawgman guy, negadawg. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up over here at some point. The whole saga sealed his feelings about Sark and about Kim.

Really sorry to hear that about Ryan.
What happened?
Sark thought he could use him to get to Jack. Lied to him and his dad's face "we want you to walk on, has nothing to do with Miles, you have a spot no matter what happens, etc". It heavily involved one of the assistants too (I want to say Sirmon but don't quote me on that). Once it was clear Jack wasn't coming they dropped the PWO immediately and just cut off all communications with him.
DM.c was complicit of course, repeating as told to them by the staff verbatim: "Turman's a steal of a recruit, he's going to help with Miles but we are thrilled to have him either way" (to the point of shitting on posters like myself who called bullshit and said no way was a five star picking UW because of a fucking walk on). Then when the staff cut Turman loose and he announced his decommitment the DM.c staff immediately claimed he was never good enough to walk on at UW anyway and had just manufactured the stories himself for attention (Despite articles still live at that point on their site saying the exact opposite) and of course turned on anyone who had an issue with them not taking him.
Unbeknownst to me Turman's Dad (Chris IIRC) was a longtime DM.c poster who I had interacted with quite a bit. He started PM'ing me all the details because I was one of the few calling the DM.c staff out on their bullshit.
I wish I could remember his handle but it's lost to time at this point.

They wrote multiple frontpage articles about Turman as well, it wasn't just on the boards. No walk on was ever so hyped by that site. Until he wasn't.
One last thing, I've rarely ever spoken to a man so crestfallen as Ryan's Dad. He raised his kid to love UW, succeeded, and that love was then used against his kid and exploited to a massively hurtful degree. He was crushed to see his son treated like that by the staff of the program he raised him to love, and devastated to see the website dragging his kid's name on top of it. Dude was really broken over the whole situation.
I can't imagine how broken he is having lost him now. If you happen to read this Chris, you guys are in my prayers.
Eklund has a JTT update saying that UW is putting the full court press on him (they better be) but they still have a long way to go to get caught up to the other schools

RIP to Ryan Turman. Way too young and from the little I knew of him from the doogman days, he seemed like a good guy.
