“I know a lot of guys out there. Julius Irvin was my host but I know Austin Osborne, Keith Taylor and Marquis Spiker really well too and I was with all those guys the whole weekend. They all love it there and since we’re friends, they can keep it real with me and told me how things are and how happy they are with being at Washington.”
3 studs who committed early and stayed strong throughout the process, and 1 stud who everyone was convinced would go to USC or ND and then shocked the world and chose UW. Please good sirs, say good shit to your boi and get him here.
On Saturday, Ford was able to experience the game day atmosphere. at Husky stadium
“First we had breakfast and then head over to the stadium,” Ford said. “We came over on a boat and that was pretty cool, I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It was really loud there, the students aren’t even on campus yet but it was still loud and I loved the atmosphere.
I'll take your word for it, but.... I saw the crowd my dude....
“Everyone was going crazy and the team looked really good. They started off a little slow but then got rolling and I like the offense a lot. They throw the ball and let their receivers make plays so I think I would fit in really well. The coaches told me they don’t really have a receiver like me in terms of my size and playing style so I think I would be able to go in and compete right away.”
Our? disoriented offense and zero run game capabilities may have worked in our? favor. WR showing out and making stellar catches looks good to a top WR.
Sunday Ford had his one on one time with the coaches before heading home.
“I met one on one with coach Hamdan, coach Lubick and coach Petersen,” Ford said. “They’re all great guys and I like them all a lot. Coach Hamdan and coach Lubick are my lead recruiters and I’m very comfortable with them and coach Pete is awesome.
Hamdan may be fucking up the OC gig but at least I am convinced of his recruiting abilities.
“He talked to me a lot about his Built For Life Program and he’s the kind of guy that is more focused on developing there person, not just the football player. He loves football but he wants to make you a better person for when you’re done playing. You can only play football for so long and he wants to make sure you’ll have options when you’re done and I respect that.
Fuck! Can we also, I don't know, focus on how we? develop NFL players and a freak like you Kyle, would be following in the footsteps of Ross and Pettis who were amazing but didn't have your natural physique.
“Washington is a definitely an option for me now. Their plan in how they develop you is ridiculous on and off the field. My parents and sister went with me and they loved it too. It’s a great program with a lot to offer so I’m very interested.”
It worked for Spam Chancellor and Fam!!!!!
“Oregon is still recruiting me the hardest out of anyone and I like the coaches a lot there. They have some receivers already committed, USC too but that’s not really a factor for me. I feel like no matter where I go, I’ll be able to compete for playing time. I’m not ever going to let competition scare me away from going where I want to go. So I’m going to try and take all my visits during the season if I can and then make a decision at the All-American in January.”
Yes yes, they recruit everyone the hardest.
I don't expect it to happen, but Kyle, please join your friends!
Just an observation. While sitting having a beer down at dockside yesterday I noticed Kyle Ford and his family arrive on the cruise boat from the Ballard locks. I discreetly watched for 10 minutes while the folks were waiting to get off the boat and was seriously disappointed that in that time he and his father were not approached by multiple well to do businessmen handing out their business cards. As he departed no Husky Honeys shepherding him up to the stadium. He looked very bored. I know. Not a cool story. Maybe coffee cups came out later but color me unimpressed with the effort.
Ask yourself "what am *I* doing to get Kyle Ford?"
Yeah good point. Instead of steering him towards Husky stadium to watch that abortion of a game I should have redirected him towards all the rich folks yachts 100 feet away. "Nice to meet you Kyle and family, I'm Joe Blow and here's what I do. Want to see my water ride?" #probablerecruitingviolation
As crazy as it sounds the interview is mildly optimistic ...
Getting on campus at UW can really open your eyes ... the quotes come off to me that heading into the weekend we weren’t really a factor but after getting here, having conversations, there are some things to think about. Having our WRs start the year strong, the outlook at the QB position, and having the Lubick/Hamden duo recruiting him gives a bit of substance behind our message. Having the full family up also doesn’t hurt and it sounds like the impression made was real and having a bunch of friends on the team that gave him some insight may have filled in some gaps.
The comments about Oregon recruiting the hardest we’re funny when he also mentioned that they already have a few guys at the position. Possible that he was able to compare/contrast their hype machine after this visit and realize that they are full of BS there? How does their fast start look if they lose to Stanford, Cal, and UW coming up?
If Oregon was funny, then SC was comical to me. His comments either fall in the category of blah blah blah I’m going to SC regardless so whatever OR after watching the shit show that is Clay Helton realizing that staying away from there is a good long-term decision. The waiting until the AA Bowl probably keeps SC in the driver seat in my mind because it gives them time after firing Helton.
The thing that will be interesting to see is whether Ford ever makes it back up to campus between now and the end of the recruiting cycle ... can we get him up for the Stanford game on an unofficial? Can we get him up for our big recruiting weekends? IF we can combined with Oregon/SC going into the shitter then we MIGHT be able to pull it out.
Still in the believe it when I see it range but more of a chance than going into the weekend.
Ford should go to SC, but USC's current 'situation' is interesting. If they get Bru and Ford, they would have a class of 5 WR's and 2 TE's. They can kinda afford to do that because so many couches were sold and they only have like 8 scholarship WR's. You have to imagine at least one of those kids is flippable if they feel like they're #5 in the class. Then you factor in Helton or Tee maybe getting fired...
Maybe we get back in it for Puka or one of the other kids, EWIWBI

I think the Helton/Tre aspect is unquestionably true …
The USC/Stanford game wasn't a ringing endorsement for anybody in that gam as it was arguably one of the most boring games I've ever watched in what is a HUGE game for the conference. JT Daniels looked like a freshman. The SC offense was far from inspiring. Stanford's offense went into the "let's not fuck it up" mode.
The next couple of weeks for SC are going to be make or break for Helton and that team. This weekend in Austin you've got a game against Texas where whoever loses will have the hot seat get incredibly warm quickly. SC should rebound from that game to beat Wazzu and the trip the following week to Tucson all of a sudden looks far less concerning. However, the following week against Colorado looks much more of a game than it did going into the season and that is followed up by a trip to Salt Lake City. A 3-3 start to the season for Helton doesn't seem that far fetched.
So in that sense, other than the SC being SC factor, I'd imagine it's going to be very difficult for them to sell that they are doing anything other than going backwards.

Chinteresting take from Biggins:
satontheremote said Agreed. It's been clear for long time that it's SC and everyone else. Same for Bru McCoy
Greg Biggins said Bru McCoy yes, with Kyle, I don't think he's the lock some feel he is. Not saying he won't end up there and USC is definitely high on his list but I do think he's genuinely open to other schools right now. There was a time back in the summer when USC wasn't even in his top 3.
There seem to be a lot of chinfluences in our? corner. Perhaps this is more of a Tuli (USC lock that has friends banging that drum to join up) than we believed.
The most promising thing to come out was that pic if him with Juice irvin and k.t.
Pics/interactions with friends is the most important thing. It gives the most true insight into the process. Comments about friends is the same. Same shit I've been saying for years about the Poly bowl. Get those prospects to the Poly bowl and we can seal the deal.
We have a chance. But we need usc to implode but still keep Helton for another year. Oregon to remain mediocre. Etc ...
The reality I think is that it takes quite a bit to overcome the inertia in order to commit to an out of state school that's rising.
Yeah, we think we're the shit and all that but we're not Alabama or Clemson yet. Or even Oregon in certain context given that most kids still remember the neon yellow and green glory days. We were crap then remember?
