After he commits to Clemson, I'm in favor of staying in contact with his parents and hoping their preference for the UW sways him to request a release from his NLI on July 31, 2020.

Football won’t be on his mind, caz of family tradegy. Then he will be released and we will sign with UW the same daySquirt said:After he commits to Clemson, I'm in favor of staying in contact with his parents and hoping their preference for the UW sways him to request a release from his NLI on July 31, 2020.

Joey Thomas had some really interesting and smart observations about Sav'ell Smalls in this recent article:“He’s a relentless beast,” says Thomas. “He has a Grant Hill personality off the field, but when he gets on the field he’s Ndamukong Suh. He’s nasty, he’s not dirty but he has that nasty, gritty mentality that any coach would love to have on their team.”“His work ethic is far greater than his talent and I think that’s the biggest misconception [about him],” says Thomas. “You know people think his talent is far better than his work ethic, but his work ethic is far superior to his talent.”
Also look at this:With dreams of getting a business degree and to one day start his own business, Smalls says that part of his decision on which school he will attend may hinge on the quality of their business program.
One of the things that gives me hope that the UW has a shot against Clemson or Alabama. UW's business school is superior, and Seattle is a much better place to start a business than South Carolina or Alabama. -
True, but he'd probably be starting a business in Buffalo, Dallas, or Cleveland.Squirt said:Joey Thomas had some really interesting and smart observations about Sav'ell Smalls in this recent article:

Weird comparisons. National recruiters have been saying he is more of an Earl Thomas type player.Squirt said:Joey Thomas had some really interesting and smart observations about Sav'ell Smalls in this recent article:

No. The reality is that in Seattle he'll have a city-wide pool of people who worship him and would go out of their way to help him get ramped and scaled. He'll be lucky if 10% of the Stanford alums he networks with know who he is and if 5% of them care enough to help, and if < 50% don't look their nose down on him because he's a Stanford jock.
That's reality. HTH. -
Absolutely true. But that's not the perception and that is all that matters.Gladstone said:No. The reality is that in Seattle he'll have a city-wide pool of people who worship him and would go out of their way to help him get ramped and scaled. It only takes one group of tech nerds to like you to make you an instant millionaire. UW and Seattle are catching up on Stanford and Palo Alto but they still aren't even close to there.Gladstone said:No. The reality is that in Seattle he'll have a city-wide pool of people who worship him and would go out of their way to help him get ramped and scaled. Realistically either place is going to set you up for life though as long as you aren't a sack of shit. -

Jayda Evans wrote a good profile on Mr. Smalls in the Times last week.
When I read about his priorities for college, I hear recruiting pitches of Clemson and UW:“Everybody has nice facilities and nice uniforms,” said Smalls, who made unofficial visits to Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida and Florida State this summer. “How they’ll develop me, how good will the business degree be and the coaches vibe, that’s how I look at it. Do I feel like they’ll make me a better person, a better player? Do they genuinely care about me? That’s a big thing.”He cares about academis:Not being challenged academically enough at Kennedy Catholic to warrant the cost of attending the private school is part of the reason Smalls transferred to Garfield for his sophomore year.God bless Joey Thomas:Then there’s Bulldogs coach Joey Thomas, who played five seasons in the NFL, and defensive end coach Valentino Coleman, who played at Kansas State. Their approach is to create a program that mimics college on and off the field. The young man has a 3.87 GPA at Garfield and already trains so diligently that he has a nutrition program. Goodness, he is going to be successful on and off the field. Please go to the UW.
“Most don’t know how to handle a player of that magnitude,” said Thomas of Smalls .... “We coach Sav’ell hard and hold him accountable,” Thomas continued. “He’s a special talent, but the thing that makes him so special is the way he works. It always gets overshadowed because people just see the results and think he was always good. Sav’ell Smalls worked to be the No. 1 player in the nation. Countless hours, studying his craft.” -

If his longterm post-football plan is to live in Seattle/PNW then the best choice for him, by far and without question, is UW. If it's elsewhere, then Stanford. The end.
-
What 16 year old has any idea where they're going to live in 20 years? I sure as hell never would have guessed I'd end up where I did. I know plenty of people who want to move away when they're young but get away for a year or two and are dying to move back home. And I know plenty of people who can't imagine going anywhere because it means leaving this girl or that group of friends or whatever and five years later they don't spend one minute a week with those people they wanted to stay home for.Gladstone said:If his longterm post-football plan is to live in Seattle/PNW then the best choice for him, by far and without question, is UW. But that's just people in general. Baring injury, Smalls is going to go to the NFL. He's going to be a first round pick. He's going to be a major success after the pros wherever he decides to live. And he may fall in love with a city he plays in in the pros and decide to stay there, he may decide to move back home. There's no way in hell he knows the answer to that right now.
He needs to go to the place that's going to prepare him for the NFL the best. Everything else is going to fall into place just fine. -
I said the end.

Be a local legend / hero to every kid coming up in town, while getting a great education and competition for the real McCoy Natties not the offseason Natty.

Yeah, but we were down like 6 LBs and still hoping Hurts could lead us. Tua is taking over and we won't be one dimensional, defenses won't be able to to put 8 in the box and spy with the free safety too. Tua will keep them honest, the RPO we have developed will allow our 4 5* receivers to get open easier, we will pound the ball with Harris and Harris, our 5* RB duo. Finally, Bama's offense will be a true juggernaut. Can't waitUW_Doog_Bot said:Fucking beta cuck Alabama PTSD all over this thread.
