All I want are OKG's. OKG's have NFL talent and are really good dudes. I don't care what their star rating is. The stars are a joke especially when it comes to UW recruiting. Joe Tryon, Jaxson Kirkland, Victor Curne, Matteo Mele, Dominique Hampton, Mosiah Nasili-Liu, Jackson Sirmon, Devin Culp, Troy Fautanu, Sama Paama, Taj Davis, and Corey Luciano. All rated "3-star" guys who clearly have NFL talent. Give me more guys like that all day long.
Name one player committed to Oregon that UW wanted. There isn't a single one who had a committable offer from UW. Oregon can have Keyon Ware-Hudson. I prefer Sama Paama. They can have Mycah Pittman. I prefer Taj Davis. They can have Jonah Tauanu'u. I prefer Troy Fautanu. OKG's baby WOOOO! -
All Dennis said is that they're recruiting well. Whether or not we actually wanted any of their croots is besides the point, the point being that Oregon can close the kids they want, which we often can't.StrongArmCobra said:All I want are OKG's. Also, at various points we would've taken the commitments of:
Mykael Wright
Jeremiah Criddell
Jayvaun Wilson
Mycah Pittman
Sean Dollars
...and we are still recruiting (or would love to have):
Mase Funa
Jonah Tauanu'u
Patrick Herbert
Treven Ma'ae
We never offered the kids from the Southeast they have (Bridges and Wilhoite), but we would probably have taken those commitments.
Stop being a fucking Doog. -
If you look at Oregon's class vs. ours here's how I feel:
QB = push.
RB = I like Davis better, but it's close.
WR = Ducks
TE = Ducks
OL = UW, but their class is good
DL = UW all day, every day.
BUCK = Ducks
LB = UW
DB = UW given that Wright won't qualify. -
Hey, so, remember in the Humphrey’s thread when I told Lux (jack cobra) that he should stop speaking in absolutes about who the coaches want or don’t want or like better based purely on his own speculation because it was retarded. Yeah, so, same thing applies here. Yes, all the 3 stars you listed are incredible and I love that they’re committed and I’m going to root so hard for them. But to say you wouldn’t take 1 player that the Ducks have because they are overrated or you are sure they aren’t OKG’s.....
Yeah that’s retarded too.

If they want to be Dawgs they are smart.
If they don't want to be Dawgs they are not smart.
If they are smart we want them.
If they are not smart then obviously we don't want them.

Oregon is destroying it in recruiting. -
There’s a lot of doom and gloom around here considering HH never thought Tuitele would come to UW, or we? would get serious consideration from McCoy or To’oto’o, so take a minute and remember that we? signed the best DT in Cali last year, have a commitment from 3/4 of the best DT this year (again one being the best in Cali, and one the best player in Hawaii,) we? have the most outrageous DB room in the country, the OL recruiting took off, and we? are still in play on some of the top players in the west who are all planning on committing later in the season. We? will never sign a buck, but in all seriousness if we? land a surprise like Latu or To’oto’on it wouldn’t even be that much of a shock considering how strong the class is, and how we? finished last years recruiting cycle. At this point in time, I’m more concerned with the product on the field, because that will sell the last few holdouts better than being better salesman than Oregon.

If you had to pick what positions you wanted your best recruiters I think we have them at 4 of the 5 most important spots. You'd probably rank them something like this (with 2-4 being somewhat interchangeable).WeakarmCobra said:Hey

No one is arguing we shouldn't get more, I was specifically addressing WAC's point that we have 3 recruiters who fuck (actually 4) but "unfortunately they aren't at WR or LB". Given that amount, we have them where we want them. Of course I'd like more recruiters who fuck.Dennis_DeYoung said:

Agreed, it's going to be a great class. I think it will be a tick under last year's (though probably right there with it once you subtract Kaho, RIP), though if we pull a miracle with Bru or Ford it could surpass last year even.UW_Doog_Bot said:

Disagree! DTs we had a big issue for a year in crootin, while we had Gaines and Vea destroying everyone...and the issue was resolved in a major way in the next cycle (last year), and looks to now be a future position of major strength (this cycle)....DL looks like the DB room going forward...we are now on year 4 of no major Buck signings except maybe Ngata, but that is being generous because he wasn't some all world kid, and Tryon, who we lucked into and may or may not be great. Buck recruiting is without a doubt the single worst spot we have recruited at, and it has been going on for years....hell, even with all our OL crootin sucking for 3 years with Strausser at least the product on the field was pretty good...we have had some decent players the last few years with Feeney and Littleton and of course Jamora, but overall I'd say pressure from the edge has sucked ass for a few years now....and we have NOBODY in the pipeline to fix it if Ngata or Tryon don't pan out.Crawfish said:

We? will never sign a buck, but in all seriousness if we? land a surprise like Latu or To’oto’on it wouldn’t even be that much of a shock considering how strong the class is, and how we? finished last years recruiting cycle. This bored isSome poasters are bi-polar. When we get good news (Buelow makes it official!) we talk about the potentially greatest UW class of all time. When we get bad news ("The storm is coming" never materialized) we talk about how we'll never sign a decent BUCK, ever.
Later. Rinse. Repeat.
In the end, Gaines decided to stay an extra year and the DT recruiting picked up and HH is not worried anymore.
I have a feeling the BUCK situation will resolve itself in time.
I don't think this is an overreaction like the DT panic was.
We're also talking recruiting so fast forward 2-3 years. If Ngata is a stud he may be gone. Who else do we have to replace him? -
He looks decent moving in space based on his film, given how bad buck recruiting has been I try him at buck first. He is a project anyways, he would take 2-3 years to develop anywaysUW_Doog_Bot said:
He's going to be a DT big body power type with hand in the grass, not a Ngata stand up speed off the edge type. That's what I see anyways. He'll be great but he's not what we are talking about for Buck.Crawfish said:

One is not enough. And Tyron, in his brief appearances, looks amazing. But two isn't enough either.UW_Doog_Bot said:

To be where we want to be, they need to be getting a minimum three edge pass rushing types with big upside every two years and no less than one a year. Some will outgrow the position, some will end up being more traditional outside LB types, and some will just not pan out.
I get excited about individual players, but the goal is to be at a place where the success of a team or unit doesn't depend on a single guy developing in a best-case-scenario way. -
DL is the most important (across all 3 or 4 positions). Give me a stellar defensive line and a serviceable QB who doesn't do stupid shit.HillsboroDuck said:
No one is arguing we shouldn't get more, I was specifically addressing WAC's point that we have 3 recruiters who fuck (actually 4) but "unfortunately they aren't at WR or LB". Given that amount, we have them where we want them. Of course I'd like more recruiters who fuck.Dennis_DeYoung said:

If you had to pick what positions you wanted your best recruiters I think we have them at 4 of the 5 most important spots. You'd probably rank them something like this (with 2-4 being somewhat interchangeable).WeakarmCobra said:Hey

QB
DL
OL
Edge
DB
WR, ILB, RB and TE would all come after those 4, IMO.
Try to read for context once in your life instead of just jumping to canned DDY rant. kthxbye. -
As long as get a great BUCK in next years recruiting class then this one doesn't matter.

Yeah he's probably not going to be a 3rd down buck, but he could easily be a base OLB. String is a base sam half the time, we can't play everyone at DT.UW_Doog_Bot said:

This conversation is aids. Pointing to a single, legit edge guy (Ngata) as evidence that we're ok at buck is retarded especially given that he's only flashed potential so far. Tryon passes underwear Olympics inspection but only plays in garbage time and hasn't done shit. Benning is a run stuffing DE not an edge rusher. Nobody else on the roster even warrants mention. Yeah it's going fine. Two guys that might be good should fix everything.
Interior DL recruiting gave us a nice class of redshirts this year. Next year's will be even more impressive but we'll be counting on the RS freshmen to comprise the entire rotation. Meanwhile we're playing this year with one legit DT on the roster with a shrunken group of defensive ends rotating inforand next to him. Yeah, DT recruiting has been stellar. So stellar that we're still two seasons away from feeling good about the depth chart.
Doogs never understand the concept of development timelines or the need for depth. One nice looking recruit doesn't solve problems at a position for a couple of years at best and probably never given the likelihood of injury and need to rotate players. A great, well rounded class of interior DL like last year's doesn't solve the problem of a bare cupboard for at least two years.
Shitty DL recruiting for two cycles precludes UW from being a national contender next year. Continued shitty recruiting at all LB positions, especially pass rush specialists, will keep hampering us for at least three more years.

I just read on dawgman that we aren't really doing anything wrong and that maybe we just don't really think edge rushers are a priority.chuck said:This conversation is aids. How fucking dumb do you have to be to be like 'whatever negative thing is happening, just explain it as if people want it to happen in order to preserve slavish devotion to praising the coaches under any circumstances'?
Jesus fucking Christ.
It's like looking at my crippled ass wheeling around and someone saying 'I guess he didn't want to walk, so he figured out how to get a spinal cord injury! I don't think anything necessarily wrong happened, he just wanted some relief for his feet, probably is the way I read it.'
No wonder our country is completely fucked.
