Interesting that Randy Hart has been attending practices. I still lol thinking about Sark accusing him, through teary eyes, of having his DL fake injuries in 2013.
(Does this cement your commitment to UW?) “I’ve been so fortunate in my travels, everywhere I’ve always gone I’ve always thought I was going to stay there for the rest of my life. I’m getting older now and it’s harder to move the older you get, teaching those old dogs new tricks. I feel really excited that I can be here a long time. I was talking about how long coach Romar stayed, that’s amazing to me. If I could stay as long as this contract is, I’ll be the happiest guy around.”
(Are you where you want to be as a program?) “We’re never where we want to be at. We just don’t think like that. I think that’s one of the things everyone’s on the same page about. Jen always talks about being on the same page philosophically and values, and one of the things is I don’t even kind of feel like we’re where we need to be. We’re making progress, all those types of things, but I say that in a good way. It’s kind of like that scab that just keeps itching. We’re always trying to figure out a way to just do it better.”

I do think that he's committed to staying here, but also that I wouldn't be surprised if he retired after winning a natty (if, thank real god, he gets there).
There's the easy take, which is that he fucking hates the dumb questions that he gets from the beat reporters, but there's also definitely a tell on how much he cares about winning and beating the shit out of his competition.
I can also see how the admin would eat this stuff up, and how they feel confident that Pete won't drag the department through any NCAA trouble, and the difficult questions from the local media that would come out of that. In return, I think, they're really willing to support him within the bounds of convention. From what I've seen it would seem that Jen cares about winning more than the past few ADs, that she's not just a bean counter. Less clear about President Cauce.
Would this admin support Neuheisal's crooks and rapists? Probably not. But they'll support Pete.
That's the thing that I'm really impressed about, that his guys will work fucking hard while *wink wink* still being 'good guys' as far as the admin is concerned.
I don't think Pete's got the mentality of let's win a national title and then go retire out to the farm ... he's going to want to have some fun at the national level ... and make no mistake, when you're competing at the level that he wants to compete at, the fun is not only winning but winning at a consistent level.
There's growing evidence that Cohen gives a shit about winning and has acted accordingly throughout her tenure so far.
As for Cauce, I doubt she gives a shit at the same level that Pete and Cohen does, but at the same time, she strikes me as someone that is willing to sit back and recognize that there's a lot of good publicity and representation that the football program (particularly in its current direction) has on the University as a whole. She's shown absolutely zero indication so far of acting in a manner that would serve to undermine either Cohen or Pete.
On your latter point, there's just not enough data to say either way. On Pete, I'm convinced that he wants to win a natty, but whether or not he'll stick around to win two? I really find that questionable.
We’re never where we want to be at. We just don’t think like that. I think that’s one of the things everyone’s on the same page about. Jen always whispers into my ear about being on the same page philosophically and values, and one of the things is I don’t even kind of feel like we’re where we need to be. So are you saying that he's doing it the right way?
