    FUUUUUUCK.

They should pay me if they want to do that shit.

Fuck this 'sanctuary city' bullshit. Either we are a nation of laws or we aren't. Fuck these little pockets of "well, we don't like that so we are willingly going to disobey".

*except for edibles. I like edibles.

It's the why is it so hard to just enforce the laws that we have part that boggles my mind ... it shouldn't be that difficult.
Because it tears families apart! It's mean!

Equal protection under the law is the law of the land. Democrats in Alabama can't decide they want Jim Crow back and Democrats in California can't pick and choose which laws they enforce.

States rights is a cover for racists, same as it ever was. A REAL liberal would know that.

Obama threatened funds over trans bathrooms. Deal with it faggots

Moving the goalposts as always. The executive branch cannot simply circumvent Congress and make up new conditions for federal grants. Trying to do this by executive order is unconstitutional. Period.

There is nothing new about the Federal gubmint using money to coerce states. At all.

The states have to follow federal law.

The Executive Branch has to follow the law too. That means it cannot arbitrarily withhold legally appropriated funds. Our beloved California is going to bitch slap that fat orangutan upside the head BIGLY once again on this one. That obese fucker is no match for Holder, under retainer, and AG Beccerra.

There's a difference between the federal government and the president. You could use a refresher course on the Constitution too.

There is nothing new about the president using an EO to enforce fed law by withholding funds, like the tranny bathrooms that Obama used a letter on and none of you bitches said a word

Just because Trump does it does not make it illegal.

No state can decide to ignore the law. Go ahead and test the government and find your cities burned to the ground like the democrats in the south did.

Race, pot's still against Federal law, y'know. As of now the DOJ isn't enforcing it in states that have legalized, nor are they going after medical marijuana dispensaries.

Federal block grants are given based upon the qualifications set forth in the block grant. The Feds can't compel local PD to enforce Federal law, and unless the block grant states specifically that the local jurisdiction has to enforce Federal immigration law, then the grant must be awarded.

There's also a thing called the Antideficiency Act which might come into play.

Finally, even if the block grants did require local PDs to enforce Federal immigration laws, I'm not sure that would be Constitutional because it would essentially Federalize local law enforcement, because border control and immigration are excusively Federal purview.

Last, not that I gave a fuck about tranny bathrooms, but equal protection doesn't come into play here. You need to have a state actor and a protected class. If the previous administration decided to extend protection to trans people, then the rationale of the 14th Amendment would apply. I think it was applied to trans people through Title IX, which the executive can affect through executive rule making.

I have a feeling this might be the first administration to go Owen Everything in the courts at the rate they are going. It's like they don't have any lawyers at all, or are too obtuse to listen to them.
    Shocking revelation of the year.

I like California in this one. The Trumpanzee legal "brain trust" has already shown itself to be incompetent. Holder and Beccerra will eat them alive. In addition to the sound legal arguments backing California and sanctuary cities, they clearly have the moral and economic argument already won. Finally, who is going to burn down sanctuary cities? They are either wealthy liberal cities or majority latino communities that all overwhelmingly support sanctuary status. Who's setting the torch? Angry hordes of Freedom Trash busing in from the 909/951 with high foreheads, furrowed brows and mortgage delinquency notes dangling from their Levis? They won't make it alive past the 605.

Blah blah b l ah. There is no precedent for states ignoring federal law. The feds cam penalize with the power of the purse like they do daily in all areas of law.

Because it actually makes the community less safe?

Police aren't going to get anyone to cooperate if they are viewed as a local deportation force.
there's a reason these dreaded sanctuary counties exist even in red states. they actually serve a purpose besides protecting illegals

Why not? Cities, counties and States can openly conspire to evade federal immigration laws and welfare fraud, right?
