Sandmeyer looks big picture

jecorneljecornel Member Posts: 9,727
Sandmeyer skipped all the BS KJR feeds and looked at the big picture. If UW loses this weekend and wins out the rest of the way it won't feel good. Big picture you aren't all that excited about the year, there was so much build with the stadium and best talent thus far.

UW won't beat UCLA so no way they run the table

if they don't get to 9-3 there is no reason for optimism. even though we will be told there is.

John Ross and his 2 wins are going to kick in any moment.

I will grant you the Idaho State game but no other.

They haven't happened yet since he hasn't done jackshit. Once again these Doog saviors at WR are failing to produce.

Fuck, Kasen for being the #2 WR in the nation is looking like a slightly better version of Devin Aguilar. He's solid don't get me wrong but he's also not a game changer either.

Kasen's still very capable of being a late round NFL pick which is what I always thought he was. Hype on him was a little overrated. He was never going to be Julio Jones or AJ Green.

I wish we would throw to him a little more as he has the best hands on the team. Kevin Smith and Mickens are bout 50/50 with their hands.

Kasen will play on Sunday's, I'm hoping my post isn't ragging on Kasen. I just think if you re-did the rankings he'd be a 4 star not the #2 WR in the nation good.

I agree. He is good but not all american good. Has great hands, veritical, ball skills and can break tackles and block well. A lot to like but I feel he is being misused.

He was never a reggie williams type of impact player.

I agree, but part of that is coaching and play calling. Kasen can make plays and needs to get the ball more than 3 or 4 times per game. He maybe should not have been the #2, but we aren't using him properly. I actually think he might be one of the rare guys that does better in the NFL.

Reggie Williams wasn't fast either but he was great at leaping at the ball in traffic so UW under Rick would dial up some bombs to him where he just out jumps his defender.

Reggie was good on the slants which for whatever reason they never run for Kasen. Kasen is built for slants. Has good hands, big strong and can break tackles. Instead they always stupid fades to him which isn't his game.

I have forgotten what Kasen could do through in 2013.

Speaking of Reggie, did he really spend all his NFL cash already? Heard he got cut by the Toronto Argonauts this summer. He's only 30! Lots o wasted talent there

Didn't Reggie win the state 100m championship? He was plenty fast.

Kasen was both overrated and underutilized. Abundance.

Disagree. Reggie wasn't fast at all. Besides drugs and being lazy he couldn't hack it in the NFL because he has no separation.

Against Cal in 2002 Nnamdi Asomugha shut him down and Rick said that is when he realized Reggie might struggle in the NFL. Asomugha was the only corner who could match Reggie's physical ability and played right up on him.

I like Sandmeyer a lot now that he is gone from KJR. He is the anti-Softy. He is the only guy in town who has the balls to speak out against the current trend of Husky football. The thing I respect him most for, however, is that he openly discusses his hatred for Gus Johnson (If I yell out catch phrases, people will think I'm a great commentator). Sandmeyer's intelligence is unfortunately, his downfall in a sports town that is full of idiots.

Was wondering the same thing with Kasen. Where the fuck are the slants? I would also like to see him line up inside sometimes, but I realize being a no huddle team makes that harder. All of the throws to him and back shoulder fades with a hitch thrown in once in a while.

When I last spoke with Coach James early in the season he questioned why they weren't throwing to Kasen more.

I don't get it. It's fine to spread the ball around, and I like that the defense has to account for everyone, but he is too talented to be getting so few balls thrown to him. We all see what kind of ability he has. Other than top end speed, he has it all.
