SC dominated us. Smiff didn't learn anything from that game. No reason to expect different results. Our team has played two QB's with a pulse all year and Darnold was one of them. I don't think that is a good match up for us and our 40 pass attempts offense that we have.
These are the reasons we want to play SC. If we don't play them and we win out, we've learned nothing and Smiff gets extended. If we play them and lose for all the reasons above, Pete cans Smiff and we move forward understanding where we are. If we play them and win, we've learned something and improved.
Losers are scared of competition. If we want Pete to be a winner, than we play and beat the best. End of story.

I'm a fan. I don't give a shit if we play Colorado and get in the playoffs. If we play USC we are headed to San Diego or San Antonio. Quite honestly.

An offensive coordinator from a 11-3 or 12-2 team isn't getting canned.
If we can't beat USC and their freshman quarterback in the P12 title game, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
I really don't care if they make the playoffs or not because we are not that good especially with victor and Mathis done. But if they win out that is the likely scenario.
I do want them to win the conference though. And it is not our fault that USC messed up their season early by getting clown stomped by stanford. Playing Colorado is the most likely way to make that happen. sc is playing way better than anyone in the conference right now.

If Pete didn't fire Smith after the past two seasons, he's not after having a top 10 offense.
Smith is a good coach, can't do that to Browning, it's hard, blah blah.

The book has been written and published on Smith. That one game wouldn't make or break him. There was no business justification for retaining him after 2015 and he isn't going away now unless hired as HC elsewhere.

Keep SC the hell away from him.
