Peterman isn't a good enough gameday coach to make that plan work.godawgst said:
Oregon was doing that when they had an offense no one had seen before, coupled with a coach that they won't have for another 100 years, and a 3 star qb from Hawaii that fit their offense as well as I've ever seen.TierbsHsotBoobs said:
If you're resigned to occasionally contending for a division crown in this shit conference, the approach you described is perfect.Tequilla said:Rule #1 of Team Building: Get the best players into your program as possible through recruiting
Rule #2 of Team Building: Develop players once they get into the program
Rule #3 of Team Building: Play your best players
If you are able to consistently recruit well and develop players, then it becomes the exception and not the rule that the players you recruit in the most current class are in the 2 deeps. If a player isn't in the 2 deeps, then you should make every effort to RS that player if you can.
Before you point to the Alabama's of the world playing freshman, there's a difference between getting a handful of Top 50 players nationally versus the players that UW is getting. That's not an excuse but it's more just reality not just today, but throughout the history of this program.
Oregon is doing better than that though. Aren't we supposed to BONEM?
There's about 7 teams in CFB that can recruit like Alabama and we aren't (and never will) be one of them. The route Tequilla lays out is what Peterson (or any coach here) has to use.
