Your ideal tax scenario
Personally I don't believe in estate taxes, sales taxes corporate taxes, etc, etc. The only taxes that fundamentally make sense to me are income taxes and property taxes. I believe in a government for the people, by the people, and the people should be who pay for it. I also believe that the land must be worked and if land is not productive it needs to be put to use. I think on some level it is absurd that just by being there first you get to own land, and while some people are born on third base others are born in the stands. It is tough to reconcile the historic basis for land ownership with modern reality where land is much scarcer per person, but I don't believe in ex post facto so if you own something before you should keep it now. In a similar vein I do believe in royalties to the government for exploiting a country's natural resources but that is very separate from a generic corporate taxes.
In terms of income taxes I conceptually like flat taxes but I believe progressive taxes also make sense on some level (after all the more you have the more you benefit from the security of a country's military and police force - it is very much an insurance policy for your massive holdings if you have them).
Anyways, what do you think. I know we're burdened by the tax system we have today, but in an ideal world what you like to see?

There should be credits for being smart with your money i.e. extra retirement investing (Roth IRA contributions ), having a 5 figure liquid savings account, paying extra principal on your house, etc. . Anything that makes it less likely that the government will have to take care of you financially somewhere down the road. Reward people for being smart with their money rather than just for having kids.

Holy crap I would love to pay down the principal on my mortgage and have that count account my taxes. At least the mortgage interest counts on some level...bananasnblondes said:There should be credits for being smart with your money i.e. extra retirement investing (Roth IRA contributions ), having a 5 figure liquid savings account, paying extra principal on your house, etc. . Round up all welfare recipients into forced labor camps and kick the illegal immigrants out.

I think its ridiculous that ANYONE could suggest that Corporations should not be taxed.
Forget the fact that if EVERYONE incorporated then the Government has no tax base.
How about CORPORATIONS REQUIRE GOVERNMENT SERVICES ? Why should someone living below the fucking poverty line pay for the greedy fucking corporation's existence?
But to answer your question - then the best tax system would be similar to what we have now but with fewer loopholes. ALL earnings should be taxed. People that make more money should be taxed at higher rates.

Tax the 1% ...
Tax the hell out of corporations.
Taxing the rich people is fun, until you're considered the rich person. -
Corporations still need to be taxed. The though that:
A) You keep the economy stronger by charging low to no income taxes is fucktarded as the lions share or the money goes to the richest of the rich. Bonuses for CEOS' and higher dividend for fatcat shareholders. I'm all for the ones who made the risk to get paid off but they need to pay their taxes to.
if you back off on Corporate taxes, they'll hire more people at higher wages and the income taxes from such employees more than offsets the lost tax revenue form the corporation. This is the most fucktarded stance I hear as that the Corporation won't hire more people at higher paying jobs. they simply off load more work load to current employess. Or hire for a couple dimes on the dollar off-shore.
It's a delicate balance, Corporations need to pay taxes but not a much higher amount than now as they will pull up stakes and leave the Country if taxed too high. -
