Quasi-Official Iowa Cockus Thread

I'll make the early prediction:

1. Cruz
2. Rubio
3. Trump

My people on the street say Trump doesn't have the organization to win this thing. His crowds are mostly white trash who want to see a real live TV Star. They have no desire to fight the cold weather and actually get involved in the democratic process.

My prediction is that Trump wins rather easily and begins the process of steamrolling to the nomination

If there is a shocker it will be Carson swept to the win by the evangelicals. Otherwise I agree with Tequila, Trump first, then Cruz which is a big loss for Cruz who was the evangelical darling. Trump cutting into that base with his New York values is the story of the campaign so far.

What it tells me is that you're seeing a growing percentage of the population that is coming to the conclusion that "this country is fucked" and we need someone in charge that isn't afraid to flip everything upside down ...

For too long we've allowed ideological based reasoning to drive decisions ... and what is happening is that nothing is getting done.

People are finally wising up to the fact that the ideas mean jack shit if you can't execute them ... except for the Bernie contingent that are looking for their free handouts.

Pretty much agree. Abortion is here to stay, gay marriage is legal, time to put all the social stuff aside and try to actually run this country somewhere other than into the ground.

You're not going to get a President who will change that. Hell, Obama claimed he was against gay marriage both times he ran.

    It's the economy

Obama couldn't afford to alienate the blacks and hispanics who hate the gays.

At least the right wing is honest about who they hate.

Without turning this into a massive abortion debate, the only thing that has ever bothered me about that topic is the people that use abortion as a means of birth control and to get away from the accountability of their actions.

In general, I'd say the biggest thing that has fallen apart in this country is accountability.

If this election is all about the economy trump has about as much success to bring to the table as W

    Disagree.

Trump stands as much chance as Bernie does at getting anything done. That's because both of them are running for President, not Dictator, and the fucktards in Congress will derail either of them from getting anything significant done.

And as long as the lazy electorate keeps electing their incumbent fucktard congressional representatives, we'll continue watching the US become mediocre in everything we do.

There is no fixing this shit heap. Trump won't do it, Bernie won't do it. Only the electorate suddenly becoming aware, educated, and motivated will - and what do you think the chances of that are?

People are wising up? Fuck if they are. If anything, they're becoming dumber and lazier than they were before. It's because smart people don't have kids, or only have a couple, and dumb people have 10 kids - and the gene pool gets shallower with every generation.

After I have a couple more drinks, I'll make another post to expand on this. Right now, I'm busy getting buzzed up and listening to AC/DC in anticipation of their concert tomorrow night.
Your right. Congress REALLY sucks. Irregardless of which mute point party is running it at the time

Has anybody really noticed a difference?

    Remember Howard Dean.

    Either do I.

    Remember Pat Buchanan

    I vaguely remember him

    Protest candidates get the buzz.

    Adults get the votes.

    Trump isn't winning tonight, I'd bet Sven's $20

    He'll finish 3rd

People may be "pissed off" but their too lazy to vote ... or they don't have the balls to pull the trigger and they'll fall into line like the sheep they are.

As for me ... I'm voting Rubio because he looks like my last name.

No, but rate of return isn't in the Donald's wheelhouse.

    Bankruptcy =/= default

If the US was some shitty company to restructure then Donald is the guy, but he can't exactly file chapter 11 and restructure the US.

If your argument against Trump is that he is a shitty bidnessman your pretty stupid or insanely partisan.

I like to say a guy who turns 200 million into 4 billion is too stupid to make money as easily as this article states.

He could have twice that, rather easily.

I went to a cockus once, in 1988 for Jesse Jackson. Got all the way to state as a Jackson delegate. I may or may not have been a token white.

The fix was in early and often for Dukakis. A lot of disillusioned folks after that campaign. The democrats run a tight machine. They don't really care who the people really want. They like it locked down.

I think that was the year Pat Robertson won the republican cockus in Washington. Bush 1 didn't care
