Blatt's track record of success in Europe tells me that he knows how to coach ...
LeBron runs that organization ... if he didn't you wouldn't be seeing comments in articles announcing the firing that LeBron wasn't consulted about the decision. That's absolute and total BS.
They have built that team to be a plodding size team that is probably built to play against the Spurs and maybe Thunder but will get absolutely exposed against a team like the Warriors that can run circles around them.
Let's be honest that the Warriors also laid a beating down on Chicago 2 nights later ... it's what they are capable of when properly motivated.
The fundamental problem with Cleveland is that the identity is LeBron doing LeBron things but he's slowly morphing into not as dominant of a player as he used to be ... he's 31 and he's already played 1,129 career games and 44,756 minutes. Just to compare, Kobe's played a total of 56,471 minutes in his career. We're probably at the point where LeBron's going to maybe have this and at best 2 more high end seasons left in him to be able to win a championship.
If you consider Blatt in over his head, then you go find a coach that isn't in over his head. Instead you turn the roster over to Tyronn Lue with no head coaching experience. Firing Blatt and bringing in someone like Tom Thibadeoux maybe makes some sense given the reasons provided. But as is it just plays out that the players didn't like the coach and the players won when in reality it is their own play that is the fundamental problem.
Love's a talented offensive player that is neutered into a glorified role player role with LeBron. Instead of being able to flourish offensively he's limited and then that exposes the fact that he's not a great defensive player. They'd be better off with a far better defensive player that is limited offensively. To some degree it's the same thing with Kyrie Irving in that he's great with the ball in his hand offensively but he's not a tremendous defensive player. What you saw against Golden State was the continued exploitation of their terrible defensive players. What worked for them in the Finals against Golden State was playing high end defense at the expense of the offense ... but LeBron needed more help than what he was getting. What they need on their roster are a bunch of guys like Nic Batum, Trevor Ariza, etc. that have offensive abilities but have a calling card defensively. Instead, they've got too many plodding bigs that can only go hit the glass or guys that can hit shots on the perimeter but can't defend anybody. When compared to the Warriors and Spurs, it's not a championship caliber team.

And yet, nobody gives two shits about nba or the games until June when they actually start playing. Hasn't anyone learned from the spurs how to mail it in half the season?

The Spurs mail it in to 55-60 wins every year?
They sit their players regularly. They don't try for 65 wins which they could get just about any season. They willingly give up 5-10 games a year in order to be ready for the playoffs. The nba regular season is a joke
