Blatt's track record of success in Europe tells me that he knows how to coach ...
LeBron runs that organization ... if he didn't you wouldn't be seeing comments in articles announcing the firing that LeBron wasn't consulted about the decision. That's absolute and total BS.
They have built that team to be a plodding size team that is probably built to play against the Spurs and maybe Thunder but will get absolutely exposed against a team like the Warriors that can run circles around them.
Let's be honest that the Warriors also laid a beating down on Chicago 2 nights later ... it's what they are capable of when properly motivated.
The fundamental problem with Cleveland is that the identity is LeBron doing LeBron things but he's slowly morphing into not as dominant of a player as he used to be ... he's 31 and he's already played 1,129 career games and 44,756 minutes. Just to compare, Kobe's played a total of 56,471 minutes in his career. We're probably at the point where LeBron's going to maybe have this and at best 2 more high end seasons left in him to be able to win a championship.
If you consider Blatt in over his head, then you go find a coach that isn't in over his head. Instead you turn the roster over to Tyronn Lue with no head coaching experience. Firing Blatt and bringing in someone like Tom Thibadeoux maybe makes some sense given the reasons provided. But as is it just plays out that the players didn't like the coach and the players won when in reality it is their own play that is the fundamental problem.
Love's a talented offensive player that is neutered into a glorified role player role with LeBron. Instead of being able to flourish offensively he's limited and then that exposes the fact that he's not a great defensive player. They'd be better off with a far better defensive player that is limited offensively. To some degree it's the same thing with Kyrie Irving in that he's great with the ball in his hand offensively but he's not a tremendous defensive player. What you saw against Golden State was the continued exploitation of their terrible defensive players. What worked for them in the Finals against Golden State was playing high end defense at the expense of the offense ... but LeBron needed more help than what he was getting. What they need on their roster are a bunch of guys like Nic Batum, Trevor Ariza, etc. that have offensive abilities but have a calling card defensively. Instead, they've got too many plodding bigs that can only go hit the glass or guys that can hit shots on the perimeter but can't defend anybody. When compared to the Warriors and Spurs, it's not a championship caliber team.

Love is way overrated. He put up great numbers in Minnesota, because there wasn't more than 5 guys on those teams that would make a 12 man roster anywhere else.
Making matters worse, Love is a horrible defender. What made the Heat teams so good, was the ability of Chalmers, James, Wade, and Bosh being up to play terrific defense. Irving can d sometimes, and then that leaves Lebron. This team is built to run, and without the defense creating opportunities, they're left to play a half court game, which isn't Irving's or James' strong suits.
BlattFS should know better though. With the money they're paying Love, making a "it's him or me" comment is just asking to be fired. Coach Pop is about the only coach in the game today that can make that comment and actually get a player shipped out.
NCAA championships require coaches. NBA championships require players. Players run the nba and their staffs, while the NCAA has legacy coaches who run the NCAA.
Blatt is just another body in the midst of nothing. Lebron lost not because of blatt or lebron, but because GS was better and had a healthy team. A healthy Cleveland is an interesting matchup which i still think GS wins in 7, but who knows. Either way, very few coaches in the nba ever make that big of a difference. GS is one easy example, but there is a very small sample size who do.
Blatt could literally be replaced by @swaye and and the only thing which would change is that the hookers would have mandatory tats. The game play and the results on the floor would be the same
It take great coaching and great players to win in the NBA. Superior coaches like Pop can win with very good players and very good coaches like Spoelstra can with with spectacular talent.

If you guys haven't figured out the Warriors vs Spurs is for the championship I can't help you.
It's too bad the NBA doesn't follow the NCAA and slot the top four seeds instead of following geographic divisions and conferences. It would never work for TV ratings but the conference finals have generally been more epic battles than the finals themselves.
It's going to be fun watching the media circus after every loss under Lue. Really bizarre situation to be in, if he doesn't win a championship in his first half season he's a failure.
Calling out the team for being out of shape is alarming. I don't care what pace you're running, if you're a pro NBA basketball player you shouldn't be out of shape in the middle of the season. These dudes dogged it on Blatt.
Comments
Let's be honest and realistic here ... when you get blown out like they did against the Warriors ... that isn't coaching.
I thought Blatt was good game to game in the playoffs last year. But Scott Brooks was also decent at that and he fucking sucked.
This is probably the last hope for Love. Like maybe Blatt just didn't know what he had and how to use him. Pretty weak but maybe.

I can't explain the Clippers though.
He won the title in his first year.
Finished 2nd in the Pacific in his 2nd year and lost in the 1st round to 40-42 Houston Rockets team lead by Moses Malone.
Could argue that the firing was well deserved.
