I don't care if the players or their parents like Petersen. The jury is out until he wins. I hope Hoss94 and anyone else close to the program shares their thoughts. It makes for a better board, but it's still sizzling bullshit.

It's not bullshit ...
You can't have a high end program whether it is football, business, family, relationships, or whatever if you don't have people pulling in the same direction. You're right in that you don't have to like people to have everyone pulling in the same direction, but you sure as hell don't get that if people aren't respecting someone. As was said often about Lombardi, his players might curse him behind his back, but they'd be damned if someone outside of the circle cursed him.
You can tell from watching Azeem play that he gets it. He's a throwback that would fit right in with the greats from years past. Prior to the Spring Game, my buddy's kid goes around with a helmet from back when our buddy played that he gave him. Azeem (as well as other key members of the defense) saw the old school helmet and all were very impressed and liked what they saw. Things like that don't mean a lot ... but they mean a lot.
We should get FLAKICKER to post here. He was awesome during the Ty reign of error
He was also a huge doog with Sark. I remember Kim bringing him in for damage control when some of the sheep at dawgman started wondering if we were right about Sark.
I was gone by then. Didn't know that. A lot of folks here were doogs for Sark to be fair.
Like you after he beat Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl.
I love how he sticks up for him after someone in the media suggests he's potentially a marked man by the officials and he says, "I love how Azeem plays. He plays the game like it needs to be played."
There are a plethora of things that I've seen that has changed my thought process. I will start a thread to address them so EVERYONE can be apprised and see it.

There's a lot of vitriol on this board and this thread in particular. Win-Loss record aside, I see the vision that Coach Pete has for HIS program. I must admit that he is the EXACT opposite of what I thought he was. He's a TRUE competitor and TRULY a players coach. I've been in the recruiting business for the better part of 18 years and I've heard virtually every recruiting pitch under the sun and 85% of them are pure rhetoric. Pete's pitch and value system is GENUINE and the kids see it and they've bought in and ultimately that's all that matters. My initial trepidation had everything to do with his BSU predecessors (Koetter and Hawkins). Pete is clearly ahead of them by leaps and bounds and those two I just mentioned recruited some of my former players so I can see the difference. I anticipate many of you people seeing what I see in the next year and I'm sure you'll be singing a different song... However, in the meantime, I'll eat every negative comment that's hurled my way. Just know when the rabbit gets the gun, be ready to eat what I throw out.
don't take it personally Hoss. You have to understand that we've been really fucking frustrated for 15 years with what the people running the program have done to a once national power. we have a lot of sarcasm to spread around, but the truth is we too have heard all the shit before from guys like Emmert, Tawd Turner, Willingham, Sark, Woody, etc... we're just fucking tired of the talk and there is now only one variable that we trust - scoreboard. We're not there yet on paper, so you'll have to allow us to remain skeptical until we see more than we hear.

This. There were likely many parents and players that liked Neu, Gilby, Ty, Sark, etc. I'm sure there were many others that hated them. You can't be a head coach of a big program and please everyone, even for a genuine guy like Petersen.
I think we all get that Petersen has integrity, is genuine, yada, yada. Simplify and fix the fucking offense, stop hiring bums like Jonathon Smith (fire him too), and stop losing every close game. Make better coaching decisions. Get the front running mentality out of the program. Those are the real issues.
For fuck's sake, Victor Aiweya loved Sark. Rick Redman, who has forgotten more abut football than we have ever known, was one of Ty's biggest advocates. Former players thought Gilby got a raw deal at UW. None of it matters.
I don't take anything personal. Let me start with this, when I was gowing up, the ONLY 2 teams in the PAC were SC and the UW so I KNOW the history. Furthermore, I watched kids from around my way go to the UW over the likes of SC and UCLA. See Dana Hall... See Beno Bryant... Just examples... If you've read my posts on other boards and some of you probably have, you'll know that I believe that there are ONLY 2 places you can win a Natty in the P12 and that's in Seattle or LA. Period. PK can buy EVERY uniform imaginable and build the 2nd coming of the Taj Mahal and Oregon will remain nothing more than Jay Gatsby chasing Daisy... Pete has plenty of shit in his throat and we've seen it albeit to the naked eye, you'll miss it... Kicking a Pro Bowler off of your team takes big gonads... In my eyes, that's setting the tone for where I'm going with my program. I think Pete takes heat for being fair. JS is playing with an outlandishly young OL, True Frosh QB and RB with substandard WR's. That's a tough situation for any OC to be in. However, I believe if we see an anemic Offense next Fall, there'll be mid-season demotions and/or firings. Nevertheless, until we see a 9-3, 10-2 and/or 11-1 record, NOBODY will be happy, including Chris Petersen.
everything you say is true (except the part that we read you on other boards because most of us had abandoned dogman years ago). glad to hear you're faith b/c that gives me some comfort, but man... are we ever tired about hearing about this mythical future.
I take as much shit as anybody about being an optimistic Doog, but I will be very disappointed next season if we don't win the North. All the pieces are there and we just need to execute.
I also get tons of shit for my inner froog but the parallels to Pete's first 2 years in the PAC vs Gary Patterson's first 2 years in the Big 12 have a number of parallels ... although record wise Pete's done better.
I really do think next year has s chance to be very special ... I'm getting a lot of my buddies from afar saying the same w no ties into the program.
7-2 losing to Stanford and Oregon wouldn't be cause for a parade but it is actual improvement. That's a 10-2 regular season. A lot of free pub and recruiting bumps for that kind of year these days. And if we didn't play them back to back early we'd be in the race until late for the first time in forever.
Getting from 6-7 wins to 10-11 is a bigger jump than Owen12 to 6 or 7. It requires a week in and week out consistency that has been missing irregardless of which mute point coach we have.
A North title next year would be all the proof we need about Petermen and my inner doog would once again be unleashed

Go to 12:25 of this video and Petersen talks about Azeem.

Chris Petersen.
You can win a natty at Oregon or anywhere, quite honestly.
