Huskies Tonight

As i was watching this game tonight I thought I was watching the Huskies from the Don James era. Playing tough nose defense and running the ball down your throat. The only thing different was that a Freshman QB was playing who made some bad throws but didn't lose the game either. I have seen the Huskies play this way in years. They
hit that QB so many times all he saw was purple and black.

All the hits Kessler took, made a difference. The penalties were worth it IMO.

    DJ,

Replied as much on Twitter to you ... so much fun to watch.

All of us that have either been around the program like you for so many years or those of us that have grown up as fans of the program all know that the key to exciting the fans has ALWAYS been GREAT DEFENSE. This team plays GREAT defense.

You can take the 50+ points that some teams score and that's all nice. But give me the DB that breaks up the pass on the go route while the safety comes over and cleans the WRs clock every single day of the week while the QB is picking his ass up off the ground.

I'm looking forward to losing my voice next weekend and finally beating the Ducks and restoring what is all right in the world.

Hell yeah Donald, I love our front 7 and the DBs aren't no busters either.

The improvement in the O was better running and making just enough throws to win. Definitely better effort than Cal. Some of those early deep throws, QB will start to hit those as the season progresses. Finally I think Mickens bent that route in the end zone on 3rd down late. If he runs straight to the sideline he catches that ball.

    Where'd he see purple?

    (Great post, BTW.)

Don't let the way they played fool you Donald. Petersen is arguably worse than Sark at this point. Just ask the cool kids of the board what they think.

For me, that was great watching Washington physically beat down USC. It's clear early into the 2nd year which coach has their players playing hard and who's team has given up.

All he saw was purple... and black hardy har har. Yeah, it was a fun game while our dawgs offense wasn't on the field, good grief. I have the beaten wife syndrome though, but I escaped to a shelter so I will believe it when I see it consistently.

Kevin King has turned a corner. He was talking smack the entire time, backing it up, and USC had nothing to say about it. I like how Adoree Jackson was laughing on the sidelines after getting owned by him. That's what you do in a football game when you're embarrassed and have no other reaction to give.

He's played great. Absolutely great. He was good in coverage as a safety but wasn't physical enough in the box. I'm really glad they moved him. He can tackle in space and has been tested deep a few times already and has more than held his own.
Love his read in the first quarter on that quick pass and that physical tackle for a loss from him. Set the entire tone for the rest of the game from him

Don't be fooled by the position move. This dude would be good no matter where he played. 6'3" and is the one of the best athletes on the team. Pete and his staff have gotten to him. All he needed was coaching.

If you need a negative to this, it's to be worried if Pete will bring in OKG's that are like Qualls, Victor, and King. Those guys have the cocky Sark mindset, but are actually coached by a legit coaching staff that won't let them be frontrunning POS. Hopefully we keep bringing those guys in.

I seem to recall some cocky POS on BSJC's team that upset Oklahoma (or was it Alabama?) I don't fuckin remember Fiesta Bowl back in the day. But that might have been Pete playing with house money now that I think of it.

I remember the QB with the 70's porn stache, that guy was cool. The cocky annoying RB who banged a cheerleader or something. And Coach Pete pulling god damn leprechauns out of his @BallSacked the whole game.

    What evs, tots nvm.

Sidney Mothafuckin Jones? Darren Gardenhire? Trey Adams? Taylor RappEyes looks like another already.

OKG means ultra competitive and obsessed with football.

Yeah, that's a good formula for swagger and cockiness.

I also completely disagree that the position change didn't matter.

He has always been 6'3" and one of the best athletes on the team. He still sucked. Even with the same coaching he got this year. He still sucked. He didn't improve at all last year.

This year it has been an exponential growth curve. The first couple games he had flashes but still looked tentative. I missed most the Cal game (thank god) but last night was the first time he looked truly elite.

    What changed? His position.
