What will be interesting is how your D does bs an offense that actually can be considered at least average. (Not trying to troll but it is true)

Our defense looked bad against Texas, but if you don't have a mobile QB, then it is a lot easier for us to defend.

They were sending 3 people deep through our shallow zone with the last being a wheel route. It was uncovered because we were worried about the QB running. They got a couple open receptions off it, so we switched coverage and didn't have CBs in the flats anymore. This allowed Heard to run, and he was just too fast for us.

Bottom line is that not many teams have a QB like that who can exploit our weakness.

    Your defense sucks.

If Cal struggled to contain Texas's QB, that speaks more to me about the team speed of Cal than anything about Texas's QB having wheels (and he does).

What does that mean for UW?

Browning clearly isn't going to take off and run for 100 yards. But what we saw this weekend with his ability to manipulate the pocket with his footwork should continue. Moreover, there could be opportunities in the passing game with drags and throws to the flat where we get guys out in space. and let them run around a slower Cal team. It would not be surprising to see Washington get another big play in the passing game this week.

    Stick to academis* smack-talk.

Whatever you just spewed from your thumbs is garbage football analysis on par with Kim Grinolds.

Cal gave up 21 (-1) points in the 4th quarter.

Looks like Sonny Dykes will be working on the team's ability to #Finish this week

The difference is whether he can out run LBs and DEs. Browning can't beat angles like Heard can. That's a huge difference and is what allowed Texas to move the ball.

So Cal's Achilles heel is a team with Mike Vick at QB. If the other team doesn't have Mike Vick, Cal's defense will hold rather easily.

    Got it.

He doesn't need to, he just needs to move around until a WR comes open.

    So the only thing tha

Cal's defense may be improved but thats because it was humanly impossible for it to get any worse.

You've played the 150th rated strength of schedule according to Sagarin. UW's is 89. Your schedule is the 3rd worst in the conference.

Your defense is 11th in the pac-12 in yards per play. 12th in rushing D and 5th in pass efficiency D, buttressed by some interceptions against Grambling St, who is #212 in Sagarin. Oh and San Diego St just lost to South Alabama who is #141. Your D has also given up the most plays over 20, 30 and 40 yards and the has the least amount of fumbles forced. Positives are sacks, tfl's and interceptions. Maybe the DL is getting some pressure.

Texas' Offense gained 167 vs. ND then 277 vs Rice, then 650 against Cal.

The Cal D is bad and certainly much worse than Utah St's. The difference is Cal has a much better offense than Utah St.
    Basically, this.

If their defense is so improved why are they still ranked so shitty in every single category.

With the schedule they have faced they should be EASILY in the top half of the conference in defensive categories. And that INCLUDES Texas who is an offensive dumpster fire.

It will be a tuff game because their offense is legit, but UW can win because our defense is good enough to at least slow Cal down sometimes and our offense can probably look better against the 2nd worst defense UW has seen so far.

Vermeil's best record at UCLA was 9-2-1 with a Rose Bowel win. That's good.

Donahue with 10-1-1 in 1982 (and won the Rose Bowl)
He also went 9-2-1 in 1985 (and won the Rose Bowl)
He also went 10-2 in 1988 (and won the Cotton Bowl)

The old man name you might be looking for is Henry Sanders, who went 66-19-1 over 8 years, invented the UCLA uniforms as we used to know them before Adidas fucked them up this year, and was responsible for UCLA's only Heisman winner and national championship

Henry Red Sandeds also was found dead from a heart attack in a motel with prostitute a few years after he won a NATTY. You should have read the full Wikipedia Page. F for effort, fag.

Donahue was mediocre. Most broon fans view him as a slightly more than 'okay'. In the 80s and 90s UCLA/SC/UW all took turns dominating the conference, the difference between Donahue and Don James is TD never made it to a natty with Troy Aikman. Those teams were loaded top to bottom. Also his down years in between QBs usually got real bad. His teams were also very conservative.
Terry Donahue was,is and will be the best coach the bRuins will ever have. Brooins want to fondle Jim Moras ballbag for beating Lame and Cutty sarks fraudulent Trojans. But Mora will never have a one loss season nor win a major bowel. Let alone a handful of them.

This argument is about as fuckin savvy as the Coogs who don't want Mike Price in the Cougar HoF... just yet. Nobodys taking the Cougs to 2 Rose bowls in 5 years again either.

    Cook that shit!

The defense does suck and Browning is mobile, so that doesn't give me much confidence in the pick, except for the white helmets.

    he's run for a total of -6 yards this season. . .

Goff's a good QB but I'm not sure that I'd say that they really push the ball down the field much.

    yeah it's a real weakness. . .

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/22/jared-goffs-arm-makes-cal-a-contender/

Through the first three weeks of the season, he has thrown just three incompletions from the 17 passes travelling 20 yards or more through the air, with his 14 completions going for 447 yards and two touchdowns. That gives him a nation-leading accuracy percentage of 82.4 percent going deep—not bad when you consider just three quarterbacks are above the 60 percent mark.
