Winning solves everything. If this was a consistent 10 win program, you bet your ass most fans would be able to name 80%+ of the starters. When you consistently watch your team play in mid December bowl games you lose interest. I bet more people in Seattle could name more players on the Mariners special season lineup than the lineup tonight.

A thoughtful discussion of marketing that just happens to introduce poasters to the PREMIUM 14% Club? I'd say DJ and his Vanilla CX consultants are both in mid-season form.

The team could go undefeated and those unis and crazy larry are still god awful.

Yes, but it wouldn't matter. Oregon's unis are a miss 75% of the time. But it doesn't matter, because they win.

Great write-up. It's pretty clear the lunatics have taken over the asylum. One part of a section that took me for a loop focused on some causes of the fall....

    - effeminate uniform combinations
    - frenetic stadium advertising
    - pulsating electric lights

Effeminate, frenetic, pulsating......I have a LPT vision and that's completely fucked my evening.

i think our marketing probably sucked for decades but we just didn't know it. There was no need to market that hard when they were drawing 70k plus. Now they have to try but there really isn't a demand. If they have the year I expect this year I think eyes gonna be a lot of empty bleachers. I still have not seen a game where they fill the student section.
The duck is right. The only way this is solved is with wins.

The students fucking suck... I always boo the student non-athletes
The students will be great if we were good. we have a football problem.

Good article. There is a major lack of connection between marketing and the fans and program itself. They don't understand the culture of the program and what makes a true UW fan, imo.

I will say, in their defense, there is nothing they can do about kickoff times. That is a tv issue. And honestly, so be it. Id rather have it the way it is today, than back in the day when 90% of he games were over by 4pm and you didn't get to watch any of them anyways because you had to watch your team. The more football I can watch the better.

I was going to write something similar. Fox, BSPN, and Pac 12 Network are driving the bus.

11 a.m. kickoff times followed by 8 p.m. the next week are ridiculous.

While they would show up if we were winning, they still suck.

Went to the 2013 arizona game when we were both undefeated and there was justifiably a bit of buzz among the doogdom. We sat close to the student section and granted it rained 3+ inches, the student section, which was never full, was 3/4 empty by halftime. That was the worst weather since 2006 OSU when Stanback got hurt and it was raining sideways, just an all around shitty day. but we didn't leave early when we were students because we hazed anyone who left a game early.

I was at that game. Perfect example of why a passing offense on Montlake is fucking stupid.
