Nobody knew how bad Cyler was going to be. We simply couldn't move the sticks and the D gassed out.
That is why I was struggling to make any prediction going into last season. We didn't know what we had at QB. We have seen so many times in college how a bad QB can be a disaster for a team that wouldn't be awful otherwise. Sark was a master at winning against these kind of teams by the way, better than us but where we were able to focus on their QB and let him hand us the game. Well last year we lost at the QB lottery.
But in the same vein, I am not as pessimistic as the consensus seem to be for this year. We have seen what, 1 full game of Lindquist, Carter Samuel, and Browning combined, and we already know we are fucked? What if one of them is decent? That will make everybody else around him look better. He doesn't need to be Andrew Luck for that. Just decent. The likely scenario is he will get killed by his OL no matter what... but still.
Like previously mentioned, qb play sucked. We really didn't know how bad that pothead was. We're used to good to great QB play at Warshington. There was a time 15 or 20 years ago when 3-5 were in the fucking NFL at once.
If you inserted an average Pac 12 qb with an okay arm, you win at least one more gayme and likely two or possibly three. 8 + 2: 10. 10-4 was what many said....

I'm gonna need to see actual good to great QB play within the last 15 years in Montlake.
Not only were the QBs we had awful. There was a HUGE drop off in running back and receiving corps.
Sankey was one of the all time great backs here and Washington/Coleman were average at best last year. Losing ASJ (hes a lazy Sark baby fed player but he was huge and had pretty good hands), healthy Kasen, And Kevin Smith were big losses. I mean Mickens, Ross, 1st year Pettis/Lenius were garbage compared to the year before.
Top this with Sarks horrible O Line recruiting and that offense was just a disaster from the get go. Jonathan Smith didn't help either.
Our receiving corps will be a little bit better this year with the young guys having a year experience now and Mickens showing better flashes near the end. I still think the RB play will be the same (solid but nothing spectacular). It will all come down to the QB.

Makes me wonder how shitty the defense will be this year.

What I'm hearing..... better than 97th without 4 early draft picks.
