I like to start a thread about Republican and NRA sponsorship of a bill that would have states provide background information to the FBI for use in determining whether or not a person is fit to buy a firearm, then throw in a straw man argument that vetting the legality of voters is a restriction of freedom, and follow up by punking my original post. Personally, I don't think it is all that burdensome to have a state-issued ID.

But it tends to be the anti-water-fluoridation/black helicopter types that insist that the Gummit is going to tattoo the Number of the Beast on our collective foreheads using state-issued ID.

According to advocacy groups for minorities and the elderly, these populations are significantly more likely to NOT have a state-issued ID card. 11% of citizens do not possess a state issued ID card.

Since we don't really require citizens or illegals to provide a real ID for free services, maybe it's not too much to ask for them to provide an ID to participate in our democracy?

What purpose does it serve? Looking at the data, illegals aren't trying to vote without the requirement that voters present state-issued photo ID. We're just making life harder for minorities, cripples and the olds.

Not true but thanks for providing nothing to the discussion. You know 8 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were registered to vote? Didn't think so.

The problem is not only unqualified people voting (i.e. illegals and felons), but is people voting the dead and destitute (i.e. Granny is in a retirement home and can't vote so somebody shows up at the pole for her or fills out here absentee ballet for her). Keep ignoring that simple fact.
