The root of the OL problem is Sark. I've always thought (no way to know if true) that if you are a west coast OL, you'd rather play (based on the offenses) for Oregon, Arizona and Stanford than UW. Knowing that Sark barely talks to the OL is not surprising considering the lack of success recruiting them. Isn't this his offense? And he's not talking to the OL? What a piece of shit.
What would a former QB know about the importance of OL anyway?
How he's so ignorant of the value of a strong OL is one of the biggest mysteries about Sark to me.

He doesn't value the OL because he played in the pussy ass WAC conference which resembled a 7 on 7 passing camp. The Pac-12 minus UCLA, Oregon and Stanford have basically became the WAC as well.

Have 4321 and RoadDawg always been your favorite poasters?
there is a big difference between recruiting offensive lineman and defensive lineman. wilcox always takes time to talk to them as did holt. sark historically has not done that with offensive lineman until recently. there are several offensive lineman on the roster that he never spoke with until they were officially offered a scholarship. when the head coach and offensive coordinator does not speak with offensive line recruts there is not much a position coach can do.
I always knew Sark would rather recruit a skill guy than a lineman, but to not speak with them before the scholarship offer is pathetic. I'm sure it's not that was with QB's, RB's, and WR's. How does this not bother Woody? We need a fucking AD that has intricate knowledge of football that won't put up with this shit. It's lazy recruiting, and it's no wonder why we recruit worse at OL than any other spot.
However, I think he's part of the problem when it comes to acquiring OL talent. If Sark's not going to prioritize acquiring quality offensive lineman, then we need a position coach who can bring them in. Cozzetto's clearly not that guy.
Look at what a guy like Tosh has done for the incoming DL talent. Whether he can coach them up remains to be seen, but the caliber of DL recruits has changed drastically since we got a DL coach kids want to play for. Looks like we need a similar type OL coach to me.

WTB Klemm
Actually, WTB Mora, cause then we get Klemm AND a real HC
Guys, do we need to make an Oline board for you? The tone is getting way too negative. Clean it up or there's going to be some timeouts given. If you can't see our line is improving and Cozzetto is tuff, then I can't help you.

he has not had much to work with. what he has done with what he has had is very impressive
I can't argue with him not having much to work with.
I don't dispute the top-to-bottom talent is lacking among UW's pencil-armed OLs. Nor that recruiting is a big reason why. But Cozzetto's job is to get the most out of the players he has.
Seven has said a lot about the NFL potential of guys like Riva and Atoe. But the only Husky OL who has even garnered honorable mention all-conference honors on Cozz's watch was Kelemete (now a proven NFL player), whose best season was probably his sophomore year.
The quality and quantity of Seven's OL recruiting has been deplorable. But even these bums should be playing a lot better than they have been. With the exception of Tanigawa and maybe Charles, they play like pussies.
Go back and watch that MAACO Bowl dumpster fire again. Does anybody honestly believe *talent* is the reason the OL couldn't keep Boise's DL off of Price?
