My wishes to fire Cozzetto have nothing to do with any walk on Coogs
why is that?
Because he hasn't coached a good OL since 1998.
he has not had much to work with. what he has done with what he has had is very impressive
I can't argue with him not having much to work with. I don't think he is the main one at fault for the OL issues, Sark is.
However, I don't think he is some excellent coach. He has been a journeyman since he left ASU. I also think he has contributed to the poor recruiting at OL. I know he is not the point man on the OL recruits, but the position coach plays a large role.
I know some players rave about him, but I don't think guys are lining up to play for him like they do for some of our other coaches. If we have a head coach who does not emphasize the OL, we need a dynamic recruiter at that spot. Cozz is not that.

I'm not sure about impressive. I'd say he's been passable. Grading on the curve, his on field product gets a C. Not impressive, not awful.
However, I think he's part of the problem when it comes to acquiring OL talent. If Sark's not going to prioritize acquiring quality offensive lineman, then we need a position coach who can bring them in. Cozzetto's clearly not that guy.
Look at what a guy like Tosh has done for the incoming DL talent. Whether he can coach them up remains to be seen, but the caliber of DL recruits has changed drastically since we got a DL coach kids want to play for. Looks like we need a similar type OL coach to me.

thanl you. this is the most educated rational and nonemotional post i have ever seen online about this topic. and it is only my second day on here. you are misinformed but it is on standrard issues. he is a much better coach than you realize. he has sent more offensive lineman to the league than most ofensive line coaches in college football. he is a much better recruiter than you realize. he was instrumental in a lot of guys on our roster. he is the only reason garnet gave us a look. one of the reasons garnet is not here right now is because of sark

there is a big difference between recruiting offensive lineman and defensive lineman. wilcox always takes time to talk to them as did holt. sark historically has not done that with offensive lineman until recently. there are several offensive lineman on the roster that he never spoke with until they were officially offered a scholarship. when the head coach and offensive coordinator does not speak with offensive line recruts there is not much a position coach can do.
The root of the OL problem is Sark. I've always thought (no way to know if true) that if you are a west coast OL, you'd rather play (based on the offenses) for Oregon, Arizona and Stanford than UW. Knowing that Sark barely talks to the OL is not surprising considering the lack of success recruiting them. Isn't this his offense? And he's not talking to the OL? What a piece of shit.

Agree. Sark's fetish for skills players and his evident disdain for offensive lineman is not Husky football. Why doesn't he get it?
