I'm still waiting for one of these heros to demand we break off diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia over their policy cornering gays, homos, queers and fags.
Let's be honest, this is all about political posturing from all involved ...
We say we protect freedom of religion ... but only as long as those freedoms are consistent with social norms ...
Likewise, we protect freedom of speech ... but in today's world, unpopular opinions or thoughts can result in law suits for slander and the like ...
For businesses that refuse service to someone based on any of race, religion, or orientation, the only persons that they are hurting are themselves not only financially, but also in their ability to run a business as they will struggle to attract employees that can morally work for such a company. The reality is that there will be plenty of florists, bakers, pastors, churches, etc. that will embrace same-sex relationships and marriages to provide services and profit in the process.
We are spending too much time right now worrying about telling people how to think (which never works) instead of allowing society to shape how we interact and what we are willing to accept in our society.
