No...it's not next man up. You need players....and when guys get hurt or superstars leave you are f-ed. Unless you have superstars to replace them. If Slingblade hasn't figured this out and think he can just plug whomever he damn well pleases and thinks Oregon is gonna win 12 games because he's Mark Helfrich....oh boy.
Right and the Ducks have more talent top to bottom than they have ever had. Almost everyone that got that ball thrown to them was a freshman and we'll be swapping Lowe for Addison which is a huge bump in talent. The tight end spot is fine because it's Oregon. They have been pulling in hordes of offensive lineman and a !of of the depth took a ton of snaps this year. Andre Y and Johnstone are back too. There will be five running backs in fall camp that would all start for UW.
The D-line is back along with adding two Buckner clones. If you start for John Neal you're basically going to start in the NFL or be All-Conference. The linebackers aren't great but they are getting better and help is on the way.
As far as coaching ability Rich Rod is the only threat to "out coach" anyone. Both of the LA schools are ran by shit birds. ASU is ASU. MWAC isn't getting UW anywhere because the only people that care are about dead from the crud.
Oregon has the biggest name in the conference, the best infrastructure, a coach who will never leave, and all the momentum in the world. What I'm getting at is most of you Doogs will die with Oregon as a powerhouse and UW a turd sandwich.
UW is going to get absolutely dominated physically against Auburn. They have a new play caller on both offense and defense, which is absurd on the defensive side. Vea is gone so no more double teams on every play. Gaines is strong but way too slow to warrant that. Pettis is gone so the automatic field position win is gone.
In 2016 the Ducks had a trifecta of no S&C program, mediocre recruiting, and a D-coordinator who didn't understand how a 7-gap defense works.
In 2017 the Ducks didn't have a QB and Taggart was trying to be cool repetitively punting the ball to Pettis.
If Herbert is healthy in week 6 the recruiting has been there for the last two years, they've been actually lifting for two years, and the DC is very good now. Verdell is going to be the bell cow by this game and is going to be an elite back.
Unless there is a barrage of injuries or a bunch of freak turnovers this should be a 31-28ish type game. I could see the Ducks on either side of the score. Neither team knows how to win tough ball games as neither of their rosters have experienced one.
If Herbert comes back for 2019 the Ducks will win the conference and their one real test will be Auburn in Dallas with no Stidham and that ridiculous front seven gone.
And yes, UW is getting their ass raped off against Auburn this year. Every other Pac-12 school would too.

So no.
Neither could the UW world beaters in their one year run.

Doubling down after you already busted. Bold strategy.
I kind of feel like my cautious optimism stood the test of tim pretty well. I hated Helf Y1, was cautiously optimistic after the NCG appearance, and I hated him again about 30 minutes into the 2015 season.

Oregon lost to Arizona and made it in 2014.
The difference is that Oregon has been kicking our ass for a million years.
Nothing shows regression for Oregon like losing to ASU.

You ignorant fuck. You have Herby as a top 15 pick next year. If he returns in ‘19 that means he sucks balls or got Nancy Kerrigan’d. Either way, your savior won’t deliver your confrence title.

Or he is a kid from Eugene that wants as much time at Oregon as he can and wants to play with his brother for a year in college. He is a top 15 pick regardless of when he takes it. If he were some SoCal kid it would be a no brainer but he is a little more dug in. It didn't matter for Chris Miller, but it could for Herbie.

Chris Miller played in the 80's and was brain dead after Reggie Rogers took care of him
Herbert has a family you know. He should sit out the Las Vegas Bowl this year to get ready for the draft

He already plans on sitting out the Civil War. Can’t say I blame him. Anything can happen in rivalry games. Rotator cuffs get torn, Tibias get broken, Achilles get ruptured.
Besides, Herby and junior had plenty of time as kids, tossing the nerf around their front yard.

This has got to be shtick by this point. Nobody could enjoy being so consistently wrong.
