Why does Harbaugh need a shitload of championships as proof that he's a good coach?

How many championships did Nick Saban have before he went to Bama? Now, I'm not saying Harbaugh is Saban, so don't twist.

He had 1 at LSU, but Harbaugh had one at USD before Stanford so take that for what it's worth.

Yeah, he had that one at LSU, but his overall record was not excellent by any means. Before that, he did okay at Michigan State and got his ass handed to him by Lambo in the Aloha Bowl. After LSU, he lasted one season with the Dolphins.

Harbaugh brings instant toughness to a team. I think he'll do quite well at Michigan. He doesn't need to have multiple championships under his belt to make him worthy. Michigan may be just the right situation for him to make a run or two at a national championship.

Is there any coach in any sport who gets more praise despite never having won a title?

    "He may be a jerk, but he's a WINNER!!!!1111!!!eleven!!!!"

    Uh, no he's not. He's a runner-upper.

Harbaugh is a winner in the same way Mark Few is a winner. If your goal is to have a solid regular season, he's you're guy. If you care about winning championships, he is not. Has he ever won a title at any level as a coach?

People assume that because he irritates people in the front office, he must be awesome!

As long as he is on the sideline in SF, SF will not win a Super Bowl. And he will not win a Rose Bowl if he goes to Michigan (which he is not going to do.)

This is so fucking stupid. I don't even know where to begin.
A list of his championships would be a good start.
So Chip Kelly would be a shitty hire too because he hasn't won a national championship or Super Bowl? I'm sure there are tons of champion coaches for Michigan to hire.

I am not saying he needs a "shitload" of championships.
I am not saying he is not a good coach.

I am saying he is not a championship winning coach. He will keep you in contention. He won a conference title in FCS. He won a conference title in the NFL. Solid accomplishments. He has never won the top championship at the level at which he is coaching. He is a solid coach like Mark Few is a solid coach.

People want to act like he is Bob Knight. Bob Knight has 3 titles.

Again, is there anyone, in any sport, with no championships that is being fellated like Harbaugh is?

If Michigan's goal is to play important games in November, he is they're guy. If they're goal is to win titles, he is not

Again, I am not saying he is shitty. He will make them competitive.

It is crazy that he would be the top paid coach in college football. When was the last time the top paid coach in the country was someone without a College NC or a Super Bowl win on his resume?

Paying this dude $8M is PatHadenFS. Seahawk fans are hoping against hope he is not leaving. Urban Legend will be thrilled if Harbaugh ends up in Michigan.

Wherever he goes, he'll be looking for a new job in 4 years anyway.

His mentor, Phlembechler, won many Big Ten titles and was slways getting his ass kicked by a Pac Ten team in the Rose Bowl. I'm not saying they're identical, don't be a twister.

Your argument is FS ravennadawg. The fact that he hasn't won a championship yet is not proof, it's not even fucking decent evidence, that he won't. Nobody can prove that he will until he does, but turning Furd into a national power and bringing SF to the doorstep in very little time is solid-as-fuck evidence that he a a likely candidate to do the job. Those that believe he will have that going for usin the argument. You've got little to nothing.

No title winner, was a tittle winner, before winning their first title.
