You're not the only one Aubbie. Enough with the fucking excuses though. Winning 4 of the next 5 should be the minimum expectation.

Talk about doubling down on your doogin........holy shit things is changin in a hurry.

Christ, all year I have had that ucla game as a definite L for you guys.....not so sure anymore. Ditto with my Cougs, thought they would beat you guys by 14 or more, not so sure about that anymore.

In a way,EVERY game you guys have left could go ANY frikkin way. Total mystery.

Could see you guys beating Arizona, could see you guys losing in Boulder. I wouldn't necessarily even pencil in a W against that bizarre osu team.

I agree. Who knows what to expect with this team. If I had to bet, we won't win 4 of 5. It's not doubling down on dooging, it's having some fucking expectations and not making every excuse and blaming Sark for everything that goes wrong.
In the post above you say your expectation is to win 4/5. Now if you have to bet you won't win 4/5...
    I'm confused.
Not that hard to understand. Fuck off
We're probably not winning 4 of the next 5. You understand that. Like the rest of us, you're not expecting it to happen.

You're trying way too hard at this poont.
Even though you predicted 10 wins, you can blame Sark and the talent he left when we lose to WSU or Oregon State. I'll put the blame where it actually belongs. How can we expect to beat UCLA at home? A loss would be no big deal.

4-5 with this schedule would be bullshit. If you don't agree, you have no fucking standards. At least Aubbie mans up about moving the goal posts. The only difference between him and some on this board is he has only been doing it for a decade longer.
    This. The Pac-12 fucking sucks.

I predicted 10 wins but I was never in the "10 wins or GTFO" camp. I thought all along there was a real possibility of 9 wins. And I said from the beginning I'm not making any judgements in year one. I hated the Sark hire but I didn't freak out about the close losses in year one with him either.

Demanding results in a coach's first year is the other side of the same coin as PLSS insisting coach's need five years. We spent the last decade telling everybody that you can tell if somebody is the guy by year three. That is my fucking standard, that has always been my fucking standard and will always be my fucking standard.

    HTH.

PS. Fuck you for saying I have no fucking standards. And stop trying so damn hard to establish yourself as the new standard bearer for doogfighting. Plenty of us have been doing this a hell of a lot longer than you have. You were the best counterbalance this bored had to Cockus and now that he's gone you've decided to become the new Cockus.

    P. P. S. I still love you ($75K). But relax already, fuck.

said 11-2 based on some key assumptions:

An "extra" win due to a weak non-conference schedule. Check.

The defense would be solid. Check.

Petersen would bring immediate improvement in terms of execution and effort. Yes and no. The execution on defense is better; we rarely give up big plays. But the execution on offense is worse. And this team has looked flat at times.

The offense would be adequate because our experienced Oline would be dominant, making life easy for our new QB, RBs, and WRs. And I expected one of the QBs to perform at an adequate PAC-12 level Wrong. Really, really wrong.

I expected an Oline of Riva, Hatchie, Tanigawa, Charles, and Criste. Wrong, No Riva, no Criste, and last night, no Charles. I thought we would have the best line in the league. In reality they have been average, at best.

The QB play has been very uneven. Lindquist was terrible against Hawaii. Williams was terrible last night. Miles is clearly our best option this year. He is fine when given time, but can't handle pressure.

And the most surprising thing to me is how confused the coaches clearly are about this offense. They are struggling to find something that works and establish an identity. To me the answer is clear. This offense has looked the best when we run the ball straight ahead consistently, and use that to set up the pass. Think about the long drive at Cal, and the one good drive last night. Pound, pound, pound, pass. That is what this team can do.

But Smith/Petersen keep trying to be too clever. Too many weird calls. Too many reverses. Too many screens. And too many mistakes. Penalties, Drops. Missed blocks. And last night, three turnovers.

Part of this is due to years of bad Oline recruiting. Hatchie is the one and only 4 star recruit in the program.

But the rest lies with Petersen. He and Smith need to make some decisions and settle on what they want this offense to be.

I still have confidence we hired the right coach. The future is bright. But this is going to be another year of mediocrity, and I did not expect that.

Not that I read anything beyond the headline but if you are now down on the team, we'll likely win out.

Those are hurtful words, DNC :). I'm not the new standard for doog fighting. I do think the excuses and blaming everyone but Petersen are lame. I have always said Petersen gets at least three years and I agree that coaches in generally deserve 3 years, barring complete disaster. I don't think it's unfair to criticize him before 3 years. It comes with the territory.

4-5 would deserve criticism. It doesn't mean Petersen won't be a success in later years, but it would be a disappointment. I've been very consistent about that and most here would have agreed with that before the season. Now, they suddenly don't and it doesn't matter how many he wins this year. It's not calling for him to be fired so I don't know why you and some others are so salty and uptight about it. It's not that extreme.

P.S. Who cares how long you have been doing this? Some older posters are great, and some suck. Same with the newer posters. Most of the time we seem to agree, bfd that we don't about this. Can we hug it out? I still think you're great (75k).

P.P.S. Love ya buddy! BFF, ROFL, TTYL

I know you're being sarcastic, but, wanna cyber? Swaye hasn't been meeting my needs lately.
