Lack a few playmakers on defense, secondary is too young, OL has played well but was over matched against a vicious front 7, linebackers played okay, but I feel like Allison is the only playmaker of the group, DL has faded since Oregon game. Like having the shifty WRs, but they're too young and not physical enough against the opponent today. Youngsters mostly seemed intimidated by physical game."
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
I'm glad he provides compelling evidence of this improvement.
As I watched some of the SEC games this afternoon, it struck me that what we really need most is just fully mature players at all positions, and that takes time. The top teams are made up of kids that all look like Deone did last year, and when we have that we will be a force. We're now trying to win with speed and finesse, and as Stanford proved we need grown up men playing a man's game. We're not there yet.
But I did love seeing the Stanford D with their hands on hips at the beginning of the 4th last night. Conditioning is not our prob. Lack of pure physical mass, is. That, and a head shaking D scheme at times.
I think Breske would look like a star with the right kids (mature) to run his scheme. In the meantime, he just looks overmatched, because his kids mostly are.
I long for the day when we can reload instead of rebuild. Right now the pain comes from being ever-so-close. That, and ref screw-jobs...
