Mega Conferences Make mediocre teams look good

OOC schedules are now totally watered down with the conferences getting bigger and bigger. Why should UW play a home and home with Oklahoma when they will some of the top teams in the Big 10 and then another top team if they make the CCG?
It seems like UW will have a BBC or BCC schedules going forward.

That Bama team lost to Clemson

I know it's just an example of a good team UW played in that era

Pretty sure this is a CCC schedule.

Give him a few days for this to sink in.

9 win teams have always been good but flawed teams. Expanded conferences do nothing to change that.
Texas aTm had a soft SEC schedule, but they also went on the road and won at 10-2 Notre Dame coming off a natty appearance. So they got the benefit of the doubt. They also faded down the stretch because teams figured out their QB can't throw and loading the box gives them big issues.
With an expanded playoff the point is fucking irrelevant. We had 12-0 teams not even playing for a title a little over 20 years ago. Plenty of opportunities to get into a 12 team playoff, and if a team doesn't get in, then they can fuck off to the LA bowl.

Bama also lost 44-17 to Clemson in the playoffs. Under St. Nick
In 2016 UW seemed light years behind even as champions of the west
By 23 the field had come back to them. Only a cheating fucking wolverine and a bad night by the O line stopped them. And a defense that couldn't stop the run. But still a lot closer

and a 50% running back, with really no depth at all at the position.
I will never and I do mean never forgive those assfucks for reinjuring Dillon Johnson at the end of the Texas game unnecessarily. They win that game with a 90% DJ.

I think what I think Flat Ass is saying is right that the Big 10 is technically better than it was and better than the Pac-12 but the massive amount of teams leads to teams getting soft schedules, especially when you have a team like Penn State that was supposed to be great but was bad. The SEC is the same.
Whatever all this is has clearly created a lot of tiered parity. This is probably the first year of fields with no powerhouse teams. Last year came close because Day sucks and allowed an Ohio State team that should have nuked everyone to lose two games and then play somewhat close games with Texas and Notre Dame.

It's funny how sports work. That 2016 Alabama team was being talked about as the best team of all time, at least best defense all-time before the Clemson loss. Then it took a loss on the final play with an all time performance from Tug Job QB to beat them.
