I agree. That's why it's dumb that Fisch is treating him like Lamar Jackson. He's an above average QB. Better than Will Rogers and better than anyone else on our roster, but not worthy of building your whole offense around him.

16 teams would be stupid.

We don't need Demond to be an NFL starter, just to throw the ball to the right place at the right time while also being dangerous with his legs. With a year of starting full time under his belt and a more experienced offense around him (fewer 1st and 2nd year players starting), I expect him to take a significant step forward in 2026.
Defense wins championships and the pass rush definitely wasn't good enough. Lane as a SR will be better than Durfee but we need a guy who can get at least 6 sacks while also getting a 3 tech who can rush the passer from the interior.

The problem is “the right place” is often over the middle or otherwise obscured by bodies.

Some #s on Demond…I'll compare in to B10 and SEC. Keep in mind all teams in these conferences play shit teams like we did, so stats are padded in those games. Demond needs to play better in big games.
161 passer rating (4th in B10 behind Mendoza, Sayin, Dante Moore)
69.5% Completion % (5th in B10)
25 TD passes (4th in B10)
Threw 8 picks. About avg
His passer Rating would be 2nd in SEC, 4th in TDs, 2nd in Completion %.He also rushed for 611 yards and 6 TDs. Leading rushing QB in the B10 and would be 3rd in SEC.
He's good…
How do you make him great? You get him a better O-line and you make your running game better - especially against better teams. It was all falling on his shoulders to make something happen against tOSU, Oregon, Michigan.
He needs to take less sacks. Improve his completion %, especially while on the move. Make a few less mistakes.
Game Log:
- Look at tOSU game. Couldn't get ball downfield. Didn't throw a pick. Got sacked a bazillion times.
- Michigan. 3 picks. Dumb decisions. Couldn't run.
- Wisconsin - just a shit game. We should not have lost this game.
- Oregon. I was blackout drunk during that game so I honestly don't know what the fuck happened.
I think better O-line play and team ability to run the ball makes a huge difference.
For a fun trip down memory lane, check out the box score against Wisconsin. Again, how the fuck did we lose this game?

Agree with this. Demond is more than good enough for college.
Offensive Playcalling was pretty garbage imo in many of the big games.
Boston moving on is going to hurt bigly. Short qbs can toss it up if their receivers are tall. I don’t think there's anyone on the roster that will replace Boston in that sense.
