Chun's hands are somewhat tied because of the ongoing deficit in the athletic department. Someone told me that women's basketball lost nearly $5 million last year and all of the Olympic sports are also bleeding money. It would be nice if one of the many lesbians in Western Washington stepped up and donated $5 to $10 million to women's basketball so that football didn't have to keep subsidizing it.
So if I had to guess, he's going to let it ride with Fisch and particularly since it sounds like Michigan eliminated the latter from their search due to their extremely sensitive position with Sherrone Moore's behavior towards women and Fisch's association with Jayden De Laura.

I have nothing against Eck, but he’s a doog legend around here. I doubt other fanbases are this invested/obsessed with him.

Getting rid of Fisch isnt going to happen and shouldn't happen anyways. He gets a year 3 to show what he is capable of. He is bringing in legitimate talent, lots of young starters look incredible, and the incoming recruiting class is arguably the best UW has ever seen. That means something.
As others have mentioned UW has invested 10s of millions into facilities upgrades. NIL dollars, while not top of conference level, is estimated to be in the top 20.
Paying Judd a few more million is a signal that UW will pay coaches. It isnt always a guarantee of success (ask aTm) but it is something the best programs in the country do.
When looking at how much is at stake revenue wise for UW in football, 2-3 million more annually for Fisch isn't the end of the world. If it doesnt work out, oh well you hire an Eck or Fresno Deboer type and try again, for less money.
