Tried to warn them. They decided to play cute. The first offer started with a $7. Discussions ended. Fisch ain't Deboer. Throw out his first year at AZ and his record looks completely different, He recruits better than Deboer ever did here. DeBoer inherited a loaded roster. Fisch had zero returning starters. If he's gone, it's a complete rebuild. Maybe we strike lighting again. We'll offer a lower tier Big 10 salary to the next up and coming guy. If he wins, we'll wonder why he leaves. Flip the script. Pay Fisch. If you can't pay a buyout if he bombs, shut down the program. I was first and right on Deboer in '22. Fisch will never be an X's and o's savant. If we give him the resources, we're contending for a first round bye next season. It's time for Washington to step the fuck up and get serious about football.

I’m not sure giving Fisch a bag is exhibit A, but I totally agree that it is time for UW to step up and act like it wants to compete at the highest level.

I’m not holding my breath, mind you …

    Save the bag for Eck.

We fucked around as I said. Weird that everyone is admitting the truth two years after the fact. Two years ago the narrative was we offered a big time offer.

We don't know if any amount of money was keeping Boner at UW, but if they legit offered him what they turned around and gave to Fisch, fire everyone.

Eck's 3 years at Idaho looked the same. Ok, he went 9-3 at New Mexico and suddenly he's a hot name? Billy Napier had a far better resume when FSU hired him. Everyone here sticks to it's all the coach but you can't win without talent. Fisch is getting his guys in here. I haven't seen a Sark blowout. This team is an OL and a couple of defensive upgrades from contending. Pay Fisch. If he's not the guy, fire him. If he's not the guy, they shouldn't have hired him in the first place. Hiring a coach that improves the team year over year and lands a top rated recruiting class deserves a raise. Paying him a lower tier Big 10 Salary signals you're a bottom feeding program. Pretender not a contender.

He probably would have left anyway but UW $7 opening offer was embarrassing. Jimmy Sexton represents most of the CFB coaches. Playing footsie demonstrates you're not a real player. Washington has resources and is an attractive job for coaches on the way up. The offer, the compensation reflects on the overall commitment towards winning. We are at best a stepping stone school until we show we aren't. Don't think Sexton isn't telling his clients the same. Reap what you sow

The biggest constant that we're seeing across DeBoer and Fisch is that there's continued evidence that those responsible for key decisions tied to the direction of the football program from the Athletic Department to Upper Campus to big money Donors are behind the times when it comes to understanding what modern college football looks like

From what I've heard (from multiple people) there's a dated view that longs for the environment that Petersen had … the unfortunate reality is that the way that CP ran a program I'm not sure is even doable today (and I suspect that CP felt the same as part of the reason he got out).

We were way behind the times when it came to NIL coming into the equation and have largely been behind in modernizing.

Up until this recruiting cycle we've largely been ill advised when it came to the balance between HS recruiting and the portal in large part because we've only demonstrated a willingness to pay for proven production … as I have said from the beginning that's an inherently flawed strategy

We have evidence that UW has at least entertained the idea that they should be on a distribution scale below that of Oregon as part of the private equity proceedings … the downstream impacts to that (both athletically and academically) are vast

The University of Washington is in desperate need for competent leadership …

The way that Chun has managed the Jedd situation this offseason is mangled at best … whether it impacts him in this cycle or a future cycle is TBD … but it almost assuredly will impact the program and likely negatively

Idk why all this info is only now hitting the boards but damn that's an indictment

With that being said you can't make decisions on Fisch through any previous lens. Either you think he's worth paying and you pay him or you don't think he's worth it and you don't. Would like to see playoff appearance bonuses as a large part of HC salaries at UW

you’re not giving him nearly enough credit for what he did at Idaho

That place was dead before he got there.
