Hardcore Husky Podcast: The Fisch Era has jumped the Shark

Coaching needs to emphasize substance over form. Trade the golf visor and cotton hoodie for Terrex rain gear. Huskies haven't had to punt much until WI which exposed a weakness. Huskies recruited an Aussie directional punter, Dusty Zimmer, causing Jack McCallister (Edmonds, WA) punter to enter portal to Nebraska. Zimmer left unexpectedly (placement org rumored to be linked to visa fraud). McCallister supposedly re-entered portal from Nebraska in the hopes of returning to UW, but was passed over a second time for a second string Aussie rules punter cut by Oregon. (Never take a player from a big money program because they are nearly always being cut based on talent.) Stats don't lie. McCallister isn't an Aussie roll out directional punter but his numbers are better. Even just one good punt at WI could have made the difference in a 3 point game. This coaching staff got caught chasing the shiny new object. If this game plays out like Wisconsin, e.g., slow start on offense, defense struggles to get off the field, field position game, this team is capable of being upset at home, especially with all of the injuries. Purdue only lost to Michigan by 5 pts.
Random pissed of YouTube comment is my source.

Decent means slightly above average, not anything special.
I think he is a "good" recruiter, has a "good" eye for talent, has the ability to bring in coordinators that are legit like Walters at DC.
He's made stride to improve aspects of the program like the nutrition and the weight room.
His offensive line is not physical. He needs to give up the play calling. He needs to not coach a team that creates baffling penalties and 3 false starts on offense every fucking game, even at home.

So nothing special fuck him

I don't pay attention and I was a soccer player. But what about Ryan Walters for head coach? You'd get to keep the part of the team that's kind of working and apparently the apology for him at Indiana was he wasn't supported.

Last time we did that we lost to Montana and he was eventually fired for throttling children on the sideline

Purdue hasn't had a power 4 win since 2023, and has 1 FBS win in their last 22 gaymes. They haven't won a road game since September 9, 2023.
That's not grease, that's lube.

I know this is late, but I'm in a meeting with Shanghai and Mumbai where I don't even have to have my camera on, so I listened to the pod while I re-watched the gayme. Yes, I have a 1am CST meeting. And a 9 am. And an 11. And a 1:30. And a 2:30. And a 5pm. And a 9pm. My thoughts, not that anyone cares:
The loss wasn't predictable, stop saying that, whoever kept saying that.
All 3 bombs Demond threw resulted in disaster for UW. The first was the INT where UW had picked up first downs on consecutive plays, up 10-3. Sighs of relief everywhere, the script is UW goes down the field and scores and it's 17-3 and the game is over. Instead it's a terrible throw and Roebuck bitches out. The 2nd was a 3rd and 5? incomplete and punt.
The third we all know, and I'm not sure who it was(dunno voices other than DJ) kept defending the call. Demond was hit as he he threw it, in the driving rain. It was a shit call any way you slice it. You need 6 yards or the game is over. It's 3rd down and you throw a low % pass? If Will Rogers executes the option, he scores easily call of the day. Forgive the double negative, that doesn't make it not a horrid call. The fumble and the 16 yard grounding/sack were what? They were pass pro issues. So you call a slow developing play in that situation? Tarmac level garbage.
The 3 long passes that failed, and the grounding, false start, false start series decided the game. UW got the ball on a touchback after UW scored after the fumble. After the penalties and the punt return, UW got the ball at the 34, got 1 first down and kicked what would be the game winning FG. 9 yards. UW got 9 fucking yards on an exchange of series. UW started at the 25, UW took over at the 34, after a 40 yard punt. Think about that. That's basically a turnover. The 12 yard punt return was actually massive.
Losing your starting center during a game is a near worst case scenario. It's the 2nd worst injury to have, and losing guys during the gayme is far worse than losing a guy even on a Thursday.
In my life I have never seen a QB make plays look like they are broken like Demond Williams Jr. 1.5 seconds after the snap and he's quit on whatever concept was supposed to be executed. All his fault? Doubtful. A lot of his fault? Yeah. Also, his body language after the 3rd and 6 above was horrible. He stopped just shy of surrender cobra.
The D is giving up 20 points a gayme. Georgia and Ole Miss are giving up 19.8, LSU 19. Better hope Weber State(they fired their coach recently) doesn't come calling for Walters.
Judd is a fine coach. He needs to give up play calling doodys.
