There was that one awful Seattle Times photo of him throwing in fall camp with Sirmon and the guy from Lake Stevens towering behind him, while Haener looks like he's Tattoo from Fantasy Island
I don't really follow the NFL but just read a piece about why Grubb was fired by the Seahawks… he refused to run the ball in obvious situations when the running game was working and instead was trying to force the pass, costing the Seahawks some wins.
Sound familiar? Remember DeBoer's last season here when some of us were pretty sure that DeBoer forced Grubb to call more run plays?
Maybe we'd be better off without Grubb. I really doubt his style of O would work without a Penix caliber QB and 2-3 healthy NFL caliber WRs, which we don't have.
Not to mention OL. Penix relied on having a ridiculous amount of time under Grubb. I haven't seen to many OL that successful at pass blocking...the ASU and natty games excluded
To your point Chuck, in the upset of Fresneck over UCLA, which I watched, Haener was literally almost killed. I mean he got hit after hit and, while courageous and somehow making throws, was getting broken. I’m surprised he had a liver after that game. Didn’t seem very stout to me.
as far as Grubbs time in the nfl goes I read that he didn’t understand the different defenses and defensive trees in which they are connected to. No understanding of how to attack or even game plan properly because he just wasn’t an nfl guy or understood defensive trees in the nfl. Lots of talk about how McDonald was sitting him down prior to each game to help him gain this insight. Ultimately why they want an nfl guy to run a complimentary offense and understand each teams defensive concepts.
When the previous staff was hired at UW, I was optimistic our offensive line would flourish or be much improved with Grubbs background having coached the o-line previously. Meaning he would coach up his o line coach which actually happened.
I believe the hawks gm, finally having power in the organization had extra input about offensive coordinator having witnessed UWs success and may have mentioned Grubb during the HC hiring. I thought I read this somewhere previously.
I can’t see any oc having success when they always have a pedestrian OL, an average qb and that dipshit DK with all his personal fouls.

Brock Huard said he heard also that Grubb was very gruff and rubbed many people the wrong way.
Not confirmed whether or not he murdered a family on vacation
