Jesus Christ. I said Puka was replaced. Which one of Rome, JMac or Polk did you want to lose before 2022 because they aren't all staying if Puka is here. Also comprehension is key, Puka was a 5th round pick. Why is that? Why would an athletic freak like Puka Nacua not get picked higher? BECAUSE HE WAS INJURED!! ALL THE TIME!! Puka has been 1000 times the WR in the pros than he was in college. Again, why is that? Because he was injured ALL THE TIME!! Talk about perspective, stop humping your WDWHA narrative, wipe off, zip up and take that walk on the beach you'll need to calm down. Lotta pearl clutching around here.
Losing RVB, Mohammed, Henning and Paki does suck. I get it, they'd be great to have for depth. Relax and LIPO before announcing the sky is falling though. That's all I'm saying.

The sky isn't falling. This staff brought in good players like Alex Mclaughlin, Jacob Manu, X'ree Alexander, and Anterior Thompson last year so I trust their evaluation abilities. Johntay Cook would have been good too had he not gone further nuts (and he's now in the portal again). I don't care where they come from as long as they play ball. Heck, Cam Ward went from transferring out of Incarnate Word to the #1 pick in the NFL draft.
UW also isn't in the market for a QB. Demond is going to be better next year and UW will have two RS-Frosh and a true frosh backing him up.

All for depth on a team … you'll never see me minimizing that
Puka had his own challenges and they still show themselves from time to time in the NFL … he took the money and a better situation to go to BYU … more power to him
We replaced Puka with Polk (probably a bit of a downgrade big picture) but when you throw in Polk with Odunze and JMac we weren't exactly missing anything at the WR position

I'd rather focus on the Big Sky/G5 solid kids. We can't/ won't pay for the P5 studs. We'll get a few Power 5 kids but they will be guys who were highly recruited but couldn't crack the 2-deeps at the school they are at. Last year we broke the bank on Carter Willis. He was good, but he was like a conference honorable mention from Kansas State

Modern college football is all about figuring out how everybody fits into 1 of 2 payment schemes:
- What gets paid directly through the University as part of their "salary cap"
- What players can get commitments to via NIL
Then add on top of that that players want to play (and play earlier than ever even if not ready) and that there is a distinct pecking order in college football at this point (Big10 + SEC, Big 12 + ACC, G6) that is almost like a promotion and relegation feeder system for players.
Of all the players that UW has lost in the portal to date, the 2 that you'd ideally want to keep everything being equal are Paki and Henning. As we saw this year OL depth really matters and I think UW is in an interesting spot where they need a little more depth on the roster but they've 1) got starters more or less identified and 2) many of those starters are young with a lot of years remaining in the program (allegedly)
Henning to me is the biggest loss because he very easily could have won an open competition with Hatchett … and an open competition is honestly needed. But you're not going to get players signing up for an open competition … particularly when they have tape that they can point out and find a starting spot (even if it's for a tier lower - in this case probably the B12 or ACC)
Paki is more of an issue with circumstance than anything else. Had Ass Party moved to a different situation, then Mills kicks to RT and Paki stays. As soon as Ass Party decided to stay than Paki's in a situation where he's the odd person out. Mills has 3 years left. Champ likely starts at RG and has 4 years left. So unless Paki wanted to take on a swing role (and potentially kick into competing at C) then he's always going to be the 6th OL while he's here. He's talented enough to feel like he's got enough to go find a starting job somewhere and position himself as a NFL pick. It sucks … but it's life in modern college football.

Short-term depth play … almost assuredly not targeting this to be a starter unless there is some level of injuries
-
it’s opening the bank to surround the generational QB with elite talent. The same recipe is gonna result in a Wiscy loss and by the time the 2026 and 2027 classes are ready, Demond is gone.
-
If Demond shits the bed, there is a strong chance they decide to do that after the 2026 season.
-
bunch of rejects they are offering and visiting. Island of misfit toys. #gohawks

Real simple this time. You want as many good players on your team as possible. If Puka was the 2nd or 3rd best WR on the team that's a GOOD thing. Doog talk to say we don't need good players
If Muhammad is 1B next year to Bonner that's a GOOD thing but now we're running all unknowns and a fly sweeper at RB
