I think it's really important to get the labels, right.
"Overplayed" - For example, I love Led Zeppelin, but they overplayed when I was in college and I got burned out for a while. There's no question that The Beatles have been overplayed for 60 years now, but that doesn't diminish their achievements.
"Overrated" - The most overrated rock groups IMO are bands like Kiss, Green Day, Guns and Roses, etc. There's never been a rock group in history which can touch the Beatles for artistic growth over a brief period of 6 years and it's not even close.
About 10-15 Beatles songs are over played and for the most part they aren't their best. Lennon-McCartney have over 200 original tunes to their credit. I've seen it written that it's the most of anyone since Mozart.
Whatever. People like what they like. You can't really tell them what to like or I would and I doubt that would be much fun for anyone...aside from me.
My other beef with you people, is I wish some more guys here had some decent source audio components (i.e., turntable, cd play, or nice streaming DAC) running through decent amplification + speakers. There's so much of the music which is lost listening to tunes in ear buds, the car, Sonos (fuck you @YellowSnow !!) . It's like I'm playing cards with my brother's kids or something.

Unpopular take: The Beatle's are overrated. Not good.
It's not that unpopular of a take.
They might make the Throbber's Top 10 Brit bands. Maybe.
The Rolling Stones are my favorite all time recording artists. And I own pretty much every LP released by the various UK classic rock acts.
I understand people getting burned out on Beatles overplay, no doubt, but to say they were "overrated" is madness.
I used to think they were overrated but realize they’re simply over played. Yella has been a good teacher in the subject of the history of music.

The Beatles went from "A Hard Day's Night" to "Revolver" in 26 months.
Nirvana took 2 years to go from Nevermind to In Utero. Pearl Jam took 2 years to go from Ten to Vs.
Case closed. End of discussion.
