Tired of this revisionist shit. There was NEVER even a 1 % chance that deBoer would have stayed for year 3. Saban let it be known he was done a month into the season and the insurance salesman had made up his mind before the season entered its second half.
You absolutely have to have extremely advanced Alzheimer's to entertain any historical alternative. So, when an old geezer keeps bringing up the same tired, and untrue bullshit it gets very old very fast. Just not as old as that geezer.
Deboer wins. He does it better than just about any coach I've ever known of. He would've kept doing it at UW had he been interested in bashing his head through the barriers that UW puts up as an unstitution. It would've been hard so he left for a place where he thought would be easier.
I think his decision was wrong. Stretch out what he did at UW for a 10 year period and he would've been remembered like James at UW but with more national hype. He would've been legendary.
I hoped Fisch would be good enough to at least scratch the surface of national contention, while setting up the next coach with a championship caliber roster. It's still possible. I never expected Deboer-like results though. There aren't many guys out there like him.

Alternative explanation. Washington wasn't giving him what he wanted for the program and for recruiting while low balling him
That seems on brand to me

Feel free to provide anything other than you talking out of your ass in the way of proof
The funny part of this statement is that Saban is literally an insurance salesman.
He has pretty good chemistry with Deion on those ads
