I just read Derek's piece about what made him think about this game. I don't remember the Colorado fumble at the 2 yard-line. I remember the Buffs dropped pass on 4th down.
Are you thinking of the 1990 game in Boulder where the UW WR, Gaspard or McKay?, dropped the ball in the end zone late fourth quarter in a 20-14 loss? Maybe it was Bailey, honestly I try not to think on it. Still hurts.
No, it was the UW-Colorado bowl game in the 80's. Colorado receiver dropped a pass on a 4th down conversion attempt.
Unfortunately, I remember the 1990 game too well. Wasn't UW inside the Colorado 10 with a fresh set of downs? They attempted 4 pass plays IIRC. The game clock wasn't a problem and I don't know why they didn't try to run it at least a couple of times. Then again, I am just a lowly Uber driver and not a corch.
That 1990 season was also marred by the shit-as-fuck game against UCLA at Husky Stadium late in the season. I was there for that one. But, I digress.
Young Knowledge kicked a hole in his bedroom wall after the UCLA loss. Woke up Saturday morning with dreams of national titles only for them to be dashed on the rocks of reality. A true microcosm of my adult life as a grocer. Took an actual long walk in the woods to gain perspective after the game or possibly to avoid the wrath of my supremely pissed off mother. EWIWI
UCLA coaching staff had devised a good game plan with the short slants to overcome the UW pressure defense. We? had no answer for it. The game got off to a bad start when UW blitzed Tommie Smith on a run play and the Bruin RB ran it 75+ yards down the middle of the field for a TD.
Really a numb feeling after the game, but we knew the team would take it out on the Palouse Pussies the following week.

I have no memory of that game
Colorado was driving late in the game to potentially tie or win the game.
Colorado WR dropped a pass on 4th down. He was wide open and would have picked up a first down.
Was the last tim we? beat Colorado for a long while. Assholes ruined '89 & '90 for me.

That promo got me so pumped up that I wanted to run through my bathroom drywall like the Kool-Aid Man.
They just don’t make promos like they used to.
“Monday night at 8 on channel 46.”
Ahh, yes, the good old days.
Thanks Taft!

I was at that game. Phil Donahue definitely outcoached DJ that day.
