Four straight times the hottest up and coming coach in America has gone to Florida and failed. Only two coaches have ever won the SEC there and they are two of the all time GOATs.
You guys realize there are two parties in a contract negotiation?
What leverage did UW have here? None, Fisch was set for next year with a pre-season top 10 team and a contract extension on the table. UW was without a coach after the music had already stopped.
They still got the coach they wanted. They didn’t overpay.
Whether the buyout is $6m or $20m it’s not going to dissuade the programs that might come after Fisch if he is successful here.
As much as you like the idea in your head of forcing a coach to stay via HAVING A CONTRACT it’s just not gonna happen.
While correct it makes Fisch an immediate target for any major program or NFL team if he performs, and reduces the return for UW if he were to leave.
UW athletic dept isn’t rolling on cash. They need a hedge if Fisch leaves and this highlights the lack of leverage on the part of the AD, as you said.
If Fisch sucks year 1 but wins 9 games year 2, that’s probably enough for Florida to pull the trigger, and then you’re looking for another coach. Fisch signed that deal with one foot out the door already, because he could. UW was over the barrel.
It’s a good deal for UW if they can get 20 guys from the AZ team to come with him but I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen or not.
$12M is still one of the highest buyouts in CFB, like top-5.
What are we Gay around here? Even though he’s dead, please cite @CokeGreaterThanPepsi good research on Twitter.
That's the amount for UF to buy him out of his contract, not the amount for another school hiring him to buy him away from UF. That amount is much lower I'm sure.

If I’m a Florida fan, I say fuck that. As a Washington fan, I’d say “whatever.”
Not sure what there is to worry about here.
But sure, Florida is a great job other than that.
And Fisch knows it.
Fucking retarded ducks here
After 2025: Billy Napier’s buyout would be $19,380,000 (85% of 22.8M)
After 2026: Billy Napier’s buyout would be $13,005,000 (85% of 15.3M)
After 2027: Billy Napier’s buyout would be $6,545,000 (85% of 7.7M)
Anyone betting the house on the over?
