It might help get rid of the arrogant sense of entitlement that played a role in sinking the ship last season, but will it help re-instill the work ethic that made Oregon the premier program on the west coast?
If you need to put a reminder on your uniform that you're about a "blue collar" work ethic, then you've already lost the battle and the AIDS have won (Hi Race!!!)

Hate to admit it, but Tia Tequilla Long, DR has a point
Oregon's starting to run into a similar problem that USC had at the back end of the Carroll era where as you start recruiting nationally, the guys that you're getting to show up on your campus are showing up more because they have this expectation that they show up, win, and get drafted without understanding the hard work and sacrifices that go into it. As soon as they get punched in the mouth, they don't have anything to fall back on.
If there's one underlying reason in my mind why it is so important to be able to recruit locally it is because the local players most likely grow up identifying with that school. They have parents and grandparents that are either alumni or long-term supporters. They are playing in front of all their friends. Instead of just playing for those that are on the team with them, they are playing for so many more. When the going gets tough, normally that makes those people perform that much better.
To me, this is one of the better advantages that Washington has. Most local kids have ties to the UW. When they recruit California, many of the kids that they are going after there either have ties to the program given our influence in California OR are looking for opportunities to get out of there. The buy-in and togetherness is often what gives Washington teams that intangible that many others don't have. It's an intangible that you hear not only come up with Petersen a lot in so many words, but you are hearing echoed by so many of the players.
It's shaping up to a special Fall for the Huskies man ...
Just go out and win. Shut the fuck up with the blue collar, taking-decals-off-helmets bullshit. At the end of the day the ducks are still more talented than almost everyone else and you can't doublethink your way out of that. You go and tell the ducks, "If you're men we will be holding the crystal ball after this season. Period." Getting them to pretend they are OKG's is fucking stupid.

Stanford says hello.
With everything that Stanford lost and the fact that it's at Autzen, they don't have an excuse to lose. You know Stanford and UW are the two biggest teams threatening you and get them both at home. No excuses.

Stanford and UW in the North, but overall UCLA is becoming more and more of a threat now they have a real coach.

And what happened the last time Oregon played Stanford at home?
Playing at home should give you the opportunity to have a slight edge during the game all things being equal.
However, relying on "being at home" as the basis for winning games is a recipe for getting beat. You still have to go out and earn the wins at home.
What happens to Oregon IF they get hit in the mouth against Michigan State (possible) or loses down at UCLA (very possible)? Let's be honest, Oregon's not the most mentally tough team out there ...

Why would the Ducks be holding a crystal ball after the season? Get with the times, Gramps. The crystal ball trophy is a thing of the past.
