It's embarrassing to UW, and presumably to Oregon, to be a part of these small time TV and conference salvaging discussions.
A merged, Pac carcass/Mtn West (rename it something else or call it Pac whatever) with coastal and inland divisions could be a fun little conference. I like that as long as UW runs away fast and far.
Truth be told we* should have been made SDSU a frequent OOC opponent to get more games in SoCal.
Doesn’t mean they should be a conference member.
Worse is who this conference might get to have a nice round number of teams. Cause while I don’t think SDSU belongs, they’re easily the most interesting, desirable and available G5 school in our geography. I shudder to think who might join with them.
UW vs SDSU on 8pm on a Friday night will be special. San Diego St will not replace USC or UCLA, so LEAVE....LEAVE NOW
If the replacements don't fit (they don't/won't), UW needs to quit.
Generally optics are a faggy discussion topic, but I hate the optics of this more than anything. How can programs who aspire to compete with the blue bloods have any credibility at all in a league that loses the LA schools and replaces them with SDSU?
*We're? going to sink pretty low in terms of perception even if this is a short term thing and the B1G finally opens the door in a few years. Taking second rate TV money and second rate additions to the league is conceding defeat.
If Alabama, Auburn or Oklahoma had the ability to move on to another round of the playoffs with wins over Utah, UCF or Boise St. none of those historic upsets would have been close games. If UW stays too long with the losers on the west coast they will essentially be the plucky Utes, Knights or Broncos in the playoffs. Instead of sneaking up and winning they will feel the full weight of the big boys money, effort and talent when on the national stage. It won't be pretty. See Utah in the last two Rose Bowls as an example. Big 10 #2 OSU gaining 683 yards in the 2022 game against the P12 champ with a handful of starters sitting out and Big 10 #3 PSU physically dominating and grinding the P12 champ in 2023. GTFO ASAP even if its for a reduced share. You just can't sell this turd sandwich to the type of recruits that will help you compete in the playoffs.

Exactly. Every day this goes on hurts the perception of UW and hampers recruiting. I think it's already a big factor.
The only doogish take I can think of is STAY and beat the shit out of the weak conference and have a good chance with a playoff expansion spot via Clemson and the ACC. Hard to believe west coast football will stay down forever, but it's looking more and more like reality as tim goes on
This is nothing compared to Wilner reporting that the remaining members all agreed to an equal share of revenue if a deal gets done.
When asked how Washington and Oregon would be 'enticed' to stay he replied that the Pac 12 playoff participant would get a higher share of *that* revenue.
Dude is the biggest fucking PAC 12 shill and Cal/Stanford fluffer there is.

I get that, but the revenue discrepancy is so bad you're gonna get abused in the portal and be a farm system for coaches in the big conferences that pay the big salaries. The new tv deals are too much to overcome on a consistent basis.
TLDR... making the playoffs for an honorary ass kicking is not a good plan.

Damn true. We already lose our real 5 stars to an Ohio st

Especially when it's going to be a road game against a team that's pissed and wants to make statement.
Pac can stay together, merge with the MWC/Ivy League/etc for all I care, just a long as we are in the Big10 or at this point even Big12 as a pit stop until 2030 and next reallignment window.
Everyone knows how it end for the Pac and it's not as a P5 conference.
College football needs to totally redo the conferences to get back to their stupid playoff plan. The NCAA does a good job for March Madness why can't they figure this shit out for football.

This is what pisses me off though. It's not a power 5 conference only because 2 schools that combined for 1-5 record in conference championships and 0 playoff appearances aren't in it.
At least with the Big12 they are completely different now that their #1 performing team is leaving in Oklahoma. And Texas is on a different level in terms of fan support than the LA schools.
Pac 12 era has been led by a group of Stanford, UW, Oregon, Utah, and to an extent WSU when Leach was there. Fuck the LA schools forever.

3 tiers of football aligned by regions - to make the playoff work this seemed like a good one. This is the proposal for tier I
I like it but I am a dumbs Shit - yes I had to edit this
Also, the likes of Ole Miss and North Carolina get in but not Arizona State?
What I think the way to evaluate the tier one teams it to do a 5 running year total of all the teams - tier 1 would be the top 40 teams, tier 2 41-80, tier 3 the rest. 8 teams from tier 1 and 4 from tier 2 make the playoffs, 8 teams from tier 1 are dropped back to tier 2, same for tier 2 teams. The transfer window would be crazy methinks.

Here is a good proposal that will go nowhere https://www.uwdawgpound.com/2023/6/15/23762076/a-modest-realignment-proposal-washington-huskies-football-pac-12
