Career suicide for Huff? I guess you take the $500k / yr raise for the two years you get and then latch on at another FBS program as an OL coach afterwards.

It depends on if he wants to be an HC sooner rather than later. If not, he could remain OL and then potentially move up to OC if / when Grubb leaves. If he is in a hurry, he probably would take the OC job and hope he gets a few years as one before getting his first swing at HC for a lower tier Pac-12 school or the Mountain West.
Meh. Bad move for Wilcox. It doesn't hurt UW imo and probably doesn't hurt his career. He can fail as IC in a bad situation and still fall back on his 2022 unit to promote himself for future OL jobs.

Even if Huff pulls in recruits, he won't be around long enough to reap the benefits. Wilcox might want to see if Sark is around after the Alamo Bowl.
I've been a critic of Huffs for awhile, but he's earned another year here. I wouldn't be freaking out if he left either.
NOW
If Cal ever gets a good OC they will be a solid skwad
Beau Baldwin was actually a great hire on paper at the time. I'm surprised that one didn't work out, quite honestly.
EWU had a great run but their coaches never panned out at the next level.
He coached basically every other offensive position too. Butt still.
And 2000 he was O line coach
He was excellent as long as he wasn't head coach
