I don't get it. If the rotation gets healthy (Paxton, maybe even walker) they are what they are, about a .500 team.

I really wish ownership would pony up the dollars to get morales, cause I think the team would have potential with a second bat, but they'd rather just pocket the money instead. FYFMFE

Why spend 24 million on Cano then do nothing else? Cano has been great btw. He's second in the AL in batting average and has been on fire as of late. You have two Cy Young contenders in Iwakuma and Felix which most teams would kill to have one of and you have two of them.

Hart who has always been injury prone is again out. Time to stop fucking around and sign Morales already to be your DH. Also time to stop babying Brad Miller and send his ass to triple A already!

the first part I buy 100%, they need to sign morales before the draft, because once that attached pick is gone there is gonna be a ton of interest (yankees, angels, etc.)

the second part I don't agree with, should miller go down? yes. But who plays SS, franklin is shit defensively, bloomquist is 40. If taylor wasn't hurt I'd go with him but he's on the shelf for a while. I just see a lack of options at SS

So you're saying we need a DH, dawg?
  • dhdawgdhdawg Member Posts: 13,326
yes that is what I'm saying. In case you're wondering the name actually came from getting called a dickhead by some doogs because I didn't "appreciate Sark"

All this time I thought you were a designated hitter.

Yea I totally didn't see DH standing for DickHead and totally thought it was a baseball reference.

What kind of moron would think DH is a baseball term especially in the same town that has the DH of the year award named after Edgar Martinez. What a fool we all must be.

Went to look up Brad Miller's WAR and saw the entire roster has a negative 0.9 WAR defensively. Love how Jack Z came here and preached good defense, then totally ditched that plan with like 5 1b.

Smoak is a negative 0.4 defensively by himself which is impressive for a first baseman. Even Cano who is hitting well is a negative 0.3 defensively.

According to uzr and def seattle is in the top 10 defensively. According to both statistics seattle was the worst defense in baseball last year
  • dhdawgdhdawg Member Posts: 13,326
so from what I've seen and those statistics show, defense isn't the problem. It's really just the offense, which can be masked if the pitching is really stellar, however it needs to be in the top 20 at least, and while signing morales probably wouldn't get them in the top 20 by seasons end, it would be a start. They won't do it though

Designated hitters are usually dickheads that only play because they use PEDs (see Edgar as a prime example).

Flagged because Edgar was a good hitter before the PED's made him borderline HOF caliber.

Upvoted because you realize Edgar juiced but not awesome'd because he was most similar to Corey Koskie in his one really good year prior to the doping:

OBP by age, pre Koskie sim scores:

    24*: 413
    25*: .351
    26**: .314
    27: .397
    28: .405

Pre enhanced Edgar was a beast at the most important hitting stat that there is. Fuck the Mariners for thinking Jim Presley was a better option than he was for most of those age 24-26 years.

By BR WAR Edgar was a 5.5 win player at 27 and 6 win at 28.

Dude could flat out rake on his own, the juice just allowed him to go from the ideal 2 hole hitter to a monster in the middle of the order.

Edgar could always hit the ball well and get on base. The juice turned him (and many others) from singles hitters to power hitters.

The lesson as always: Fuck Bud Selig with a rusty conical cheese grater.

    Sideways.

Edgar did it the natural way like Alistair Overeem.... "I eat horse meat and have a lot of sex"

Did u see moore's article that he's disappointed in cano due to his lack of homers.
He's hitting .326 as a 2B, and it isn't like he isn't getting XBH he's on pace for 40 doubles. I'll pay 24 million for that any day

Yup, fucking moron. This whole bashing Cano thing for not hitting 50 HRs in a season is really making me consider turning into a spree killer.

Instead of bashing the other 7-8 shitty batters the Mariners have in their lineup night in night out, I like to bash the guy nearly hitting .330 and a lot of extra base hits... I do that.

First of all if we are going to start bashing on the only excited era in baseball(steroids era) then I'm out!

So in SoftyFS and EliseFS world going 34-29 is fine but hitting .326 isnt?

The baseball fucktards always out themselves when they up bring up shit like RBI's.
