McGary's measurements were pretty much exactly as expected: 6'7", 321 lbs, 10 1/4" hands, 33 5/8" arms, 79" wingspan. A little shorter wingspan maybe than expected, but not bad at all.
Sample actually has a slightly larger wingspan than McGary. He measured in at 6'5", 250, 9 3/4, 33 1/2, 79 1/8. Pretty decent.
And as Courics mentioned, MMFG doesn't seem to be there.
Not great news for Gaines. We? knew he had short arms, but his arms are shorter than all of the Dline at the combine last year and his wingspan looks like it would be 2nd shortest.

Yeah it's definitely not great. Qualls managed to get drafted with 30 5/8" arms though. Not that he's done much in the league at this point.
At least Gaines won't have the shortest arms/wingspan this year, as Bama's Isaiah Buggs is even more of a T-rex than Gaines is.

Is quals still in the league?
He was cut by the Eagles (last September, so he has the ring). Didn't play this year I believe but was signed to a futures contract by the Panthers so I guess he'll fight for a roster spot with them in preseason.
so, if you don’t have The Long Arms Scouts Like, be quicker than shit, have great hands and be stronger than the guy you’re up against?
Depends. Xavier Cooper from Coogs was really athletic but had short arms. He kicked around the league for a few years, but I think the short arms really limited him as a pass rusher.
Gaines is a lot stronger though. I think he could have a long career as an early down run stuffer at least. The fact that he's quick and has active hands helps, but his strength is the big thing.
Unless YOU have proof in HAND...it’s speculation for YOU. ‘Those who know’....meaning YOU are not a ‘THOSE’. I didn’t create the English language but ‘speculation’ is pretty cut and dry. Unless you are an eye witness, YOU are speculating. Word of mouth is not proof.
