This took an interesting turn. Two things. When APAG says Trump owns establishment Democrats he means can beat them.
My point was that one of the things that works against Trump is tone and decorum but the Muslim chick calling him a motherfucker and doubling down on lying about the Kentucky kids plays to his mudder strengths. Maybe throw some female genital mutilation in.
2020 wont be about free shit it will be about general us v them shit. Hillary lost because she insulted her base. The key to victory is getting them back IMO -
The professor's aren't the problem.greenblood said:Free college? How about the colleges make it more affordable? Stop paying professors $200k+ per year.

Your take on politics sucks. She was put on the committee because she wanted to be on the committee and most likely this was the price Pelosi paid for her support.allpurpleallgold said:I have no doubt that she was put on the committee because establishment dems think it will end up hurting her. And anything that makes progressives look bad is good for Trump. We know he owns establishment democrats. We’ll see if she steps in it.

If you explained the cost of Medicare for all and "free" college and your green new deal support for those program would drop. That poll might as well have asked would you like eating ice cream and cake if you knew you weren't going to gain any weight.allpurpleallgold said:We had a moderate Democrat in the White House for 8 years and he did fuck all.
The majority of Americans support Medicare for all, free college, green new deal, raising minimum wage and a 70% top tax rate. But Democrats need to run someone who doesn’t support those things to win? Like the last democratic nominee? Not like Bernie Sanders, who happens to be the most popular politician in America.
If you want a moderate Democrat as the nominee in 2020 it’s because you want the Democrats to lose. Simple fact. -

Following this line of thinking led the Democrats to losing everything over the course of 20 years. Go ahead and lose again. I give zero fucks about winning in 2020.creepycoug said:
Bullshit. Medicare is the only one on that list I'm willing to pay for. Average person can't save enough to be properly insured in old age, and there comes a point when working isn't an option. On that point, I'm left of center. People need healthcare, and while we're figuring it out, Medicare needs to remain funded. I'll leave it to the experts whether it needs an overhaul like Welfare, but philosophically that's something that should be there as part of a decent safety net.allpurpleallgold said:We had a moderate Democrat in the White House for 8 years and he did fuck all.

Free college? Fuck that. 70%? Fuck you. Green New Deal? Tell me what it is first.
Yes, I want a moderate Democrat. And that's how they'll win. Parade another banana in front of the electorate and watch what happens.
Besides, who are they? going to vote for if they're disenchanted with the moderate candidate? Didn't Bernie teach them all a lesson in splitting the vote?
Jimminy Christmas I can't believe you believe that. -

I am on board with the healthcare thing. Mainly because the idea of tying healthcare to your employer is fucking stupid.
But apag misses the point.
The goal is to win, not change the fucking world during a campaign. Cunt.
If the base of your party wants a bunch of policies that the majority of Americans support and you don’t run on those policies it’s because you want to lose. -
Americans want healthcare delivery fixed
The devil is in the details. Last time a democrat tried it he made it worse. Then the GOP said hold my beer while we half ass a repeal that isn't one that we promised for years -
We already pay for college and healthcare. Things we already pay for are going to bankrupt the country?Swaye said:I just did some quick 5 minute research on the free college thing. Most surveys and polls in the last two years seem to indicate about 2/3rds of Americans support it, so APAG is technically correct. But, nowhere in the surveys I found were any costs mentioned. I would be interested to see the results when the question is asked do you support free college, and your state and federal taxes will rise by XXX percentage to pay for it. I think the answers would be much different. Perhaps not.
I didn't bother to look at the laundry list of other shit because even though I am stupid I know that would bankrupt the country trying to pay for green deals, and free college and health care for all. Even soaking the rich at 70% wouldn't finance all of that shit. You'd have to raise taxes dramatically on the middle class and sort of rich as well, thereby negating most of the benefit. But hey, the really dirt poor would gets lots of free shit and keep voting for AOC. so there's that. -
We don't provide "free" college and the Federal government still doesn't pay for most people's healthcare.allpurpleallgold said:
