I doubt he's officially left USC yet, but he's going to be offered NFL jobs so its gonna happen

I think Swann had blocked him from interviewing, so the only way he could was to resign.Neighbor2972 said:I doubt he's officially left USC yet, but he's going to be offered NFL jobs so its gonna happen

Or he told Swann let me interview or I resign and Swann caved.UWhuskytskeet said:

USC absolutely amazes me. Oregon had three different coaches in three years, and if asked which program is more stable, Oregon wins hands down.
Most teams couldn't be this dysfunctional if they tried. Most any other program that handles business like this, probably would have had their program shut down because of lack of funding from multiple owen12 seasons. USC going 5-7 is rock bottom, and it seems like the administration is cool just chill'n down there. -

Why would NFL teams entertain the idea of hiring a guy who was mediocre as a college head coach?

He’s probably be a great NFL OC but hiring him as HC seems incredibly stupidDerekJohnson said:Why would NFL teams entertain the idea of hiring a guy who was mediocre as a college head coach?

Kliff has had amazing success offensively, but it has been defense that had held him back. As head coach that is his problem, but NFL teams think that they can fix that part of it. The front offices I assume think if they can make the right hire at DC, Kliff could be very successful in the NFL.DerekJohnson said:Why would NFL teams entertain the idea of hiring a guy who was mediocre as a college head coach?

a guy that gets hired at one place but defiantly continues to interview for other jobs is going to be too headstrong to allow others to choose his DC without meddling and self-sabotaginggreenblood said:

Maybe. But he probably took the usc job knowing that clown show has no leverage over him and it was a fallback.DerekJohnson said:

I wouldn't put the situation of a college OC interviewing for an NFL head coaching gig into this category. I don't think there are many OC's in the country that at least wouldn't want to entertain this idea.DerekJohnson said:

I really don't think Kliff knew he would be in such high demand from the NFL before he took the USC job. If he had known, I think he would have waited. -

I was replying to Derek's post about how a newly hired coach would still listen to offers. Not meant as a blanket statement to the board.BennyBeaver said:

The path to the top of the NFL is shorter than ever especially with the “let’s find a brilliant young mind” philosophy now.HillsboroDuck said:

Matt LaFleur just went from getting fired as QB coach after RG3/Shanahan failed in DC and becoming Notre Dame’s QB coach 5 years ago to being the head coach of Aaron fucking Rodgers.
Kkkliff is high risk but I’d rather than risk than some boring recycled NFL coach. -

Because the NFL is a weak ass copy cat league and they think Kliff is the next Sean McVay.DerekJohnson said:Why would NFL teams entertain the idea of hiring a guy who was mediocre as a college head coach?
