Early 2019 defensive seating chart

DT ONWUZURIKE Tuitele Bronson
BUCK POTOA'E Bowman Tupuola-Fetui
SAM TRYON Ngata Rice
MIK SIRMON Beavers (Heimuli?)
WIL WELLINGTON Tafisi Calvert
SS McKINNEY Gilchrist
FS MOLDEN Williams
NICKEL IRVIN Bryant
CB TAYLOR McDuffie
CB GORDON Hampton
Lots of youth. Thin depth in places. But blue-chip talent all over the field. Especially in light of the soft schedule, I think the D has a chance to be decent in 2019. #awfullycoldforapril

Looks pretty good.
Do you have Molden and Irvin flipped? -
Maybe, but I like them better this way. You know, in case Jimmy asks my opinion.HillsboroDuck said:Looks pretty good.

The defense will continue to be great. The coaching is excellent and the recruting gets better and better.
The offense has a lot of returning experience and the newbys should be better outside of Gaskin and McGary.
If Salvon runs with more toughness, the line gets better, and the scheme/playcalling improve...look out, the sky is the limit. -
I think Bryant starts with the ones... but otherwise looks about right.
-
I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved Benning to the interior because we lack depth there.
Have Tryon play Buck and get Ngata ready to go at SAM. -
Benning has looked amazing in run support lately. Just get him off the field in obvious passing downsbackthepack said:I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved Benning to the interior because we lack depth there.

McKinney had a pretty rough Rows Bowel
-
Bryant is the best two players on the team. No way he is a backup. Did you not see him trying to powerbomb weber?
-
And I'm taking ulofoshio to get plenty of snaps on D.
-
Myles Bryant was the scapegoat of Stanford and Penn State last season (deservedly so) but had a hell of a RB and season.
McKinney will be fine.
Avoiding new players being mismatched in these big games will be a key for us breaking through and winning an NY6 in the near futue -
If myles bryant doesn't leave he starts, I don't get why molden is playing safety, I'd rather see Irvin there. Mckinney looks like he sucks so I hope someone beats him out there... yeah safety terrifies me but IN LAKE I TRUST

Where do you see Ale Kaho factoring in? I jest...

McKinney was a let down for sure against OSU, but regardless it was his first time starting and it was against a top tier passing offense. He also doesn’t have to beat out much to start so he’s a near lock honestly.ZoneUW said:If myles bryant doesn't leave he starts, I don't get why molden is playing safety, I'd rather see Irvin there. Agree with most of it but I have Hampton as a starter at CB. I got Gordon and Molden competing for the Free Safety job with the loser rotating in as the #2 Free Safety and #2 Nickel. I would like to see Irvin at Strong Safety providing some competition against McKinney who certainly didn't perform well enough in the Rose Bowl to just be handed the starting job.
There's no fucking way Benning is a starter next season. I don't care if he occasionally flashes against the run. Dude cannot rush the QB. He can't even convert speed to power as a bull rush guy. Tryon will be a starter for sure so I agree there. Benning will need to hold off Zion, Laiatu, and Ngata and I don't think he will. A move to 3-tech would be better for him.
Yup, I've got Wellington as one of the starting inside backers for sure. He's pretty good and will bring a veteran presence in the middle of a very young defense. Beavers is solid too but can't play a single game without getting injured. I agree, they should not rely on him as a starter next season. He'll be a quality depth guy to rotate in though. I'm fine being a doog who loves try hard walk-ons so I think Edefuan Ulofoshio is going to challenge Sirmon for the other starting job next to Wellington. He's the new walk on sleeper people are excited about except this time it's a try hard black kid who actually looks pretty talented.
However the competition works out at inside backer I have no problem saying the new starting tandem will be better than BBK and Bartlett. I'm not worried about that position group at all. There's some good talent and football instincts there to work with. People think we're thin there and yet we'll probably be deeper than we've ever been at ILB under Petersen. Throw in Calvert and likely Heimuli who can both play right away if need be and we're stacked with good to great talent at ILB.
I like Tuitele at 3-tech ahead of Bronson because he's a bigger body but at the same time there's likely a big strength difference between the two with the edge going to Bronson. You also have Mosiah Nasili-Liu at 3-tech who is also a strong ass dude and very athletic. Wouldn't be surprised to see Tuitele redshirt.

AGREE on basically everything, except I think Hampton will probably start over Gordon. Would LOVE to see my dude Irvin at nickel which I think would be his best position, but I think Bryant starts if he comes back to school.

This post is criminally underchinned. I am starting to think we have a lot of retards around here.TTJ said:

You guys have been predicting someone to start over Myles Bryant for two years. If he returns, he starts.
-
I hate him because he gets exploited in coverage especially against bigger receivers but he’s fucking great playing close to the line of scrimmage.RoadDawg55 said:You guys have been predicting someone to start over Myles Bryant for two years. If he returns, he starts.

I think Irvin or Gordon will start at one of the safety spots. Bryant at nickle (or MIK backer) and Taylor at one corner are locked in. My guess is Hampton at the other corner, Molden as Bryant's backup, Gordon or Irvin as one backup outside, and one of them at safety.
A lot of ifs again, but I think the defense will end next season better than this one. It's younger but with way more talent at most positions if you consider the incoming class. A few of them are going to be key players. -
It’s tough to predict the DB’s without knowing where some will be playing. A couple of the CB’s are moving to safety.
Get the best players on the field. I would hope McKinney has to earn a job after his awful showing against Ohio State. -
He significantly improved this year, probably the best open field tackler on the teamRoadDawg55 said:You guys have been predicting someone to start over Myles Bryant for two years. If he returns, he starts.

Bryant is going to be a defensive captain next year and a first team all conference corner. I know we like to beat off over prototypical bodies, but how have you not come to terms with the fact that he’s the starter at nickel and it’s not even close?
Anyways, the rest of your depth chart is close to spot on. -
Look, I'm not trashing Myles Bryant at all. I think he's a good player and have said so on these boreds many times. He will definitely be in the rotation. But his size continues to get exposed at times, and there are very talented youngsters coming up behind him on the depth chart. I also recall him getting benched at Berkeley, and Molden playing *very* well in his place.GreenRiverGatorz said:Bryant is going to be a defensive captain next year and a first team all conference corner. We say the same shit every year "Uncertainty at X, youth at Y, what in the heavens will we do?????" and yet the defense always shows up ready to play. Not worried in the slightest.
FIX THE FUCKING OFFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Myles Bryant is gonna go to the NFL
-
I remember Harry and Arcega Whiteside Frisbee abusing him in 2017. But I can’t recall a single instance of him being exposed this year due to his size. I also don’t recall him getting benched at Cal. If he did, I’m guessing it was because he was banged up, Cal didn’t do shit offensively in that game.TTJ said:

He got juked out of his tiny shoes against WSU on a play that should have been a short gainer.GreenRiverGatorz said:
