Reassessing the midgets

Fuller - was convinced he was a decent 3rd WR but was despondent that he was going to be our? #1. Boy has he told me to fuck myself. The kid is a baller, gets open consistently and makes tough grabs, rises to the moment, and is definitely worthy of being a #1
BBK - hated the fact that he plays hard and is around the football but is the size of a safety, but I’ve been proven wrong! He should get a blue ribbon for the way he rides ball carriers like a 4 year old on a sheep. Joking aside, he had a solid game yesterday. I was impressed with his forced fumbles. Unfortunately the assessment is the same, he plays hard and typically makes the right play, but he needs 3 inches and 20 pounds.
Bryant - was struggling to understand how he was Lake’s favorite after watching him get burned repeatedly by big WR, especially against Stanford and PSU. Like Fuller, Myles has told me to go fuck myself. He’s been the most consistent DB this season. Plays the run fearlessly, is a sure tackler, has gotten hole on some blitzes, and makes plays in coverage. He’s at home at Nickel. I was calling for Molden to beat him out but I was wrong.
Bowman - had a discussion in the spring on walk-ons about how all of his production was had against weak competition and blowouts, whereas Clemson’s Hunter Renfrow repeatedly showed up in big games. I mentioned I’d rather have a specimen like Tryon because physically he has a better chance for consistent production. So far, Shane has done more than Ryan. He’s consistently stoned on the edge, and has been losing time to both Ngata and 3 DL sets.
So if the 4, Fuller and Bryant have balled out consistently, BBK has been BBK which can be infuriating but also you pray he doesn’t get hurt because he’s all we? have, and I’m not sure if Bowman has been played.

It’s almost as if our players get better the longer they are in Pete’s progrum.
With all that being said, Jake Browning sucks. -
If BBK had 3 inches and 20 pounds he would be a #1 draft pick.
He is what he is, and that's an asset that is always around the ball that makes the tackle but doesn't physically punish anyone.
The only play I remember Bowman making is absolutely destroying the Auburn fullback that tried to block him -
You should throw Baccellia and Pounds in the discussion as well. Both of those guys are midgets imo. Imagine being Cook or Bynum and the coaches won't play you over them.

That’s why I said the assessment is the same. He’s frustrating because he is right there and you’re excited, then he drags him down after 4 yards and a first. But he had a big game yesterday and stood up Huntley so I’m hopeful.PostGameOrangeSlices said:If BBK had 3 inches and 20 pounds he would be a #1 draft pick.

And upvote for the Bowman at Auburn blowup on the full back. Unfortunately that’s been it. -

Ngata has really taken Bowman's role of 3rd down pass rusher that we allow to freelance a little to try and get sacks

Bryant lost us Stanford and Penn State last year -
Joyner also got torched vs Stanford. Molden came out for a couple plays against Stanford and promptly gave up a 40 yard bomb. He's my least favorite. That was a weak PI against ASU, but I've seen him involved in quite a few negative plays for a guy who plays so little.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Bread said:Bryant - was struggling to understand how he was Lake’s favorite after watching him get burned repeatedly by big WR, especially against Stanford and PSU. McIntosh got torched against Penn State. Myles Bryant was a culprit, but nobody played great against either. Murphy had an amazing INT vs Penn State, but gave up a good amount of plays as well. -
I thought this was gonna be a thread about Oregon.

Pounds gets a mini pass because he's made some big-time grabs too (minus the drop).
Baccelia is going to have to do more than catch a 3rd and 6 to get out of the Puppy house.
The pick against Auburn has me seeing red for all eternity. I hold grudges, it's what I do.KrunkJuice said:You should throw Baccellia and Pounds in the discussion as well. Both of those guys are midgets imo. Imagine being Cook or Bynum and the coaches won't play you over them.

BBK will be the #1 draft pick... in the CFL. Future Saskatchewan Roughrider GOAT and Hall of Famer. You come to UW, we'll put you in some sort of league.PostGameOrangeSlices said:If BBK had 3 inches and 20 pounds he would be a #1 draft pick.

You don't think Spiker and Osbourne will factor in?TTJ said:

This was the year for Bryant to play WR. By next year the WR depth will be plenty full with Cook/Bynum ready to push to start and Osbourne/Spiker ready to contribute.TTJ said:

Bryant won't be playing much WR. -
BBK is in the lead to take the Cort Dennison "Little Engine that Could" award this year.
Pslam Wooching complained about the naming of the award ... but Cort was the original. -
Love what Fuller’s doing ...
Ideally he’s a great 3rd WR ... probably asking just a little too much as the #1 or #2 -
If Ahmed continues to chop his feet, hesitate and then get tackled at first contact while having the vision of Louis Rankin than he should be moved to slot receiver and only sometimes used in the backfield... Pleasant seems more than adequateTTJ said:

EDIT people forget that Chris Polk looked like a pussy before he got injured his freshman year so there is still hope... i guess... -
He had 135 yards against Auburn and 107 yards against Utah. He's a good/great #1 WR. He'd be an elite #2.Tequilla said:Love what Fuller’s doing ...

Get away from draft metrics, he's fucking at the college level more consistently than Jones. Elite# 2, will probably be all pac12Tequilla said:Love what Fuller’s doing ...

Agree on all points. I was thinking the other day about the way our db chart might look next year and actually think Elijah Molden could be a couch sale watch contender. He seems to be pegged as a nickel and is clearly behind Bryant on the depth chart at this point. This will likely carry into next year which means he'd be a true senior before he became a starter. He could move to another cb position but he'd have to beat out Joyner (Murphys current backup), or Taylor (Miller's current backup) along with Hampton, Gordon, and Irvin depending on how their positions sort out. Depending on how things shake out, transferring, using his redshirt year and having 2 more years to play might seem more appealing than backing up Bryant again next year and having 1 more year. Either way it will be interesting.RoadDawg55 said:

It’s not about metrics ... Ty’s also a year younger but I suspect by the end of the year he will take another step up
As for Fuller, the only area where his lack of ideal size as a #1 shows up is in the red zone ... and unsurprisingly as a team, we haven’t been great there -
We haven't been great in the endzone because of play calling. There are plenty of big red zone targets to choose from: Jones, Otton, Sample.Tequilla said:It’s not about metrics ... Ty’s also a year younger but I suspect by the end of the year he will take another step up

That right there is more than most schools could dream of. -
Sample isn’t a pass catcher ... Otten hasn’t done anything yet to suggest he’s a red zone weapon
Ty Jones is our best opportunity this year for a difference maker ... the rest of our receivers are not showing separation ability in tight spaces and we have a QB that doesn’t throw guys open -
Uhh, so do you have Fuller displacing Harry or Arceaga-Whiteside?Doogles said:Elite# 2, will probably be all pac12

Tequilla FS as always. Leave the WR analysis to the adults

Molden and Taylor are our starting outside corners next year and both will probably be great because development. Molden selling the couch is dumber than my post about Earl’s.

The first and second teams will have 4-6 WR on them.TTJ said:

He keeps producing these numbers he's going to be 1 of them.
Stanford is the only tuff D left, maybe BYU
Video game number games against: UCLA, Ore, Oregon St., and coug remain.
That's probably giving Col and Cal too much credit, as we'll probably light them up too.
I like that bet. -
