2018 "Blue Chips" in Progress Fupdate

2018 Recruiting Class - 12 (factors Kaho couch sale)
2017 Recruiting Class - 9
2016 Recruiting Class - 7
2015 Recruiting Class - 5
2014 Recruiting Class - 1
Skinny
Total: 35 Blue Chips
This is the most talented roster we've had in long god damned time and damn close to 40 or more In Progress objective.

This is a great stat - the only caveat is that the vast majority of the blue chips are young (hi Sark!) and we really won't see the benefits of those classes until a year or two from now.

So 2020 speacial?Sources said:This is a great stat - the only caveat is that the vast majority of the blue chips are young (hi Sark!) and we really won't see the benefits of those classes until a year or two from now.

I think we only loose 3 x 4 stars to graduation, right - i.e., McGary, Adams and Browning. What 4 star kids are we likely to lose for early NFL departures?
With 7 x (2019) 4 stars who have given verbals and our likelihood to pick up a few more, we're looking at being over 40 in progress for 2019. -
I won't be satisfied until we have over 54 blue chips on the roster. That's what the #1 blue chippers do and I think we can beat them.
-
Yes, exactly, which also happens to coincide with our most likely having a big, dick swinging difference maker at QB. 2020 would be year 7 for Pete. Remember it took Dabo 8.5 years to get a natty at Clempson. Don James took 17 years. Bill McCartney needed 9 years at Colorado.Sources said:This is a great stat - the only caveat is that the vast majority of the blue chips are young (hi Sark!) and we really won't see the benefits of those classes until a year or two from now.

It's doogin I know but I'm willing to view this through a lens as well. We definitely have some guys on the roster (Greg Gaines) who are 3 star guys that you can count as blue chippers. I think we are closer than even this indicates. 2019 is going to be special!YellowSnow said:Current 247 Four Star or Better Recruits on our 2018 Roster

It's all part of the formula. Ideally, 50% of your 85 schollies need to be for 4/5 start 'croots. The other 50% need to be DDY 2's or better regardless of star rating. Some 4/5 star recruits will invariably suck or be mediocre (e.g., Henry Roberts) or LEAVE (e.g., Eifler) and other 3 stars like Rapp, Gaskin, SMFJ, 2016 Azeem, end up better than most Blue Chips.UW_Doog_Bot said:

Back in 2014 Budda Baker was a "must have" program course altering recruit. Now, however, we are in a better place to handle setbacks like Kahogate and Hunter Bryant's knee. Still work to do, though. -
I'm aware of and understand the variance. If you want me to put it in those kinds of terms I'd say that our coaching staff skews upwards more than they skew downwards as far as ratings go i.e. they capture more underrated 3 stars than overrated 4 stars. I don't think it's a normal distribution. Call it the petermen effect, east coast bias, or whatever you like but this coaching staff (more than average) gets their players to overachieve their rankings.YellowSnow said:

See Sark for the opposite skewed distribution.
I still think we need to continue to load up on talent so don't twist. I don't want a bunch of 2 star lunch pail kids. -
Whoa - hold up there stats/econ superiority guy!! You're using some terminology that is above my pay grade.UW_Doog_Bot said:

Listen guys. This is 4th grade shit. Seriously embarrassing to read. If this board wants to stomp kim this is hardly advanced discussion. You guys look like a bunch of girls sitting around in kindergarden art class eating paste (which is symbolic as hell) throwing clay at each other. Absolutely. 23 are gone (half of that is from the 14 class that all but 2 players are left) the other half were mostly NFL, grad and about 3 or 4 who didn't make it.YellowSnow said:

More OBK, less @AZDuck -
So 50 Blue Chips in progress for Auburn to 35 for us. Most of us left coasters feel there's a bias in the star ratings favoring the East, but still I would have expected Auburn to have a better overall talent level.AuburnFan said:

Great observation Captain Obvious ... 50 out of 85 and shabby .... and 15 more is the difference of depth between our two programs. Our second team DL would start for every team in the country not named Bama. We're actually deeper than Bama on the DL this year. Also this lists said 4 and 5 stars. I bet we have quite a bit more 5 stars (TRUE Blue Chips) than y'all ... most of which are on the DL.YellowSnow said:

Your second team DL wouldn't start for us let alone Bama or Clemson.
They also were MIA against fucking UCF.
Let's let if play out a bit. Yeah, you guys beat Bama last year, but you do that periodically no matter who is on either roster.
