I've never liked the gurgle bit and have called it out as unfunny/not my thing in many threads.

Ultimately a kid who lived the dream of being a P12 QB, that 99% of this board would kill to experience, didn't think it was worth enough to continue on.

I can empathize with the mindset of the deceased - but can't condone the act or somehow hold up the victim as heroic. You said it yourself - "there's a reason suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among teens". Whatever that reason may be, 'talk to someone' or "call 1-800..." doesn't work and needs examination as to why this is now a somewhat accepted method of solving one's problems.

But even with the 7% uptick since 2010, the rate is still below what it was in the 1980's and 1990's, and a 7% increase since 2010 isn't that huge of an increase over time, or over what the rate was in the 2000's.
