Stacking Classes, Building Depth

I’m not sure if he will be big/strong enough. I would lean towards yes because most kid’s with his football lineage are obsessed.CuntWaffle said:Otton is the next great white TE for us. Will maul people when he is blocking and be a good safety valve for the QB.
That said, Kizer has already dabbled as a WTE. Bryant was already out 2nd best WR, and Culp could be 6’6” 255 with both WTE and BTE skills. -
I’m going to make a drunken, bold Pumpy prediction that Otton moves to D. Throw him in the mix at Buck/Sam.
He probably won’t tho because he’s likely a more willing blocker than Bryant and he will certainly be a better one than Culp will initially be.
Since I hedged my bet, I’ll be right either way. -
I think Otton is going to be one of those kids we see next year and go WTF from how much mass he has gained similar to Bowman. He has a frame to put on some really good weight and be strong as fuck.RoadDawg55 said:

Good shit DDY. Stacking the '17 and '18 classes looks like a good step in the right direction to loading the roster with the elite talent needed for title runs in a couple years.
But when looking at the '16 and '17 OL and DL classes stacked together its an utter cluster fuck failure of epic proportions. Due to Nick Harris playing as a true frosh that means Twattenburg is the only OL in the '16 graduating class and Levi O. is the only DL in that class as well. Combine that with the '17 Malloe shitshow DL recruiting of ZERO recruits and only taking 3 OL with 2 being potential JAG's (Kirkland & Norgaard) we could be in real trouble in two or three years. The shit line recruiting equals out to only having 5 fucking OL/DL who are upperclassman in '20. That's assuming zero attrition which is very generous. It really worries me that we're going to have to rely heavily on sophomores and freshman for OL and DL play. How the fuck did CP and staff let this happen?
I guess what I'm saying is if we don't bring in some quality JC lineman help (unlikely with this staff) or elite high 4-star or 5-star OL/DL in the next two classes then we fucked. We can bring in all the stud WR, RB, CB, etc. players we want but if we don't have the hosses at the LOS we'll get pushed around like we did against Bama and USC all over again. Like I said I still can't believe CP allowed us to have a fucking crater sized hole in the OL and DL when we're trying to make runs at the CFP. -

Just what we need. Another white guy trying to rush the QB. Should we move our slowest offensive line recruit MJ Ale to DT as well?RoadDawg55 said:I’m going to make a drunken, bold Pumpy prediction that Otton moves to D. Throw him in the mix at Buck/Sam.

First off, welcome to our message boards. The first thing you'll notice is that you're not in Kansas anymore. We've created a place where people can relax and say what's on their mind without being banned and deleted. My best advice to you is to lurk awhile and get acclimated before posting. If you have any questions, shoot a PM to @IrishDawg22, he has this place dialed in.BallzDeep said:

Oh geez.
I’m not going to bash UW to make a point. Or elevate ND.
But a lot of this is just plain nonsense.
As for ND “shitting the bed” & what not....
Play a schedule. Seriously. With ND’s schedule UW is 6-6. Travel the country, play teams in California one week, then Florida the next. ND played 7 teams this year that were ranked at some point in the CFP committee top 25. ND played 5 teams in the top 15, 3 in top 10. Ten bowl teams. Multiple conference champions. Beat 3 top 15 teams by at least 3 scores.
Washington played 2 ranked teams this year (zero top 10) & lost 2 games.
If ND played 2-3 games a year, spread out, all in the same region, they win 11-12 of them. ND played 3 top 15 teams in 5 weeks, two different times this season.
Next, DB coaching. I understand UW loves coach Lake, but not too many people outside of the PAC12 knows who he even is? Most people know him because he is considered a negative recruiter.
As far as Peterson. I’ve talked to numerous people who said he was never a serious consideration for big time jobs because he can’t handle the pressure. He is the poster child for big fish in small pond.
As for UW’s future. I talked to Gene Smith (who is a major voice in the CFP committee room) & he said they won’t be fooled by PAC12 scheduling moving forward. Playing no one, & still losing games, will not get you near the playoff. They were split on UW last time, but now they are unanimous in their thinking.
I didn’t even mention ND’s history. Just now. And right now UW gets to play in a bowl game against a team that lost to a top 15 team ND blew out on the road. And UW didn’t play for a conference title in a conference ND beat the Champion by 35 points.
I wish ND played a schedule like UW so they could win 11 games every year & make the CFP with limited effort. But that is not ND’s style. Because to be legendary you have to put it all on the line. Nobody can question ND’s legacy & who they play & beat.
They have a schedule coming up that has Michigan
USC
Stanford
VT
Florida St
Followed the next year with
Georgia
USC
Stanford
VT
Michigan
And those next two years don’t even mention teams like BC, Navy, Pitt, Louisville, WF, Northwestern, Syracuse, Virginia, UNC...
To be legendary you have to take chances.
It’s called Man in the Arena.
T. Roosevelt, 1910
ND is like the United States. Everywhere you go outside the country people tell you how the US sucks & nobody cares about them. Yet the US is the only country they care about to tell you their opinion. Because the US doesn’t suck & everybody else is just butt-hurt.
I already predicted Gordon to UW. I predicted Irvin to USC. I think they both will end up that way.
Another prediction I have, & it’s the vast majority prediction, is that Chip Kelly & UCLA will soon own the PAC12. He will get all the recruits, win all the conference titles, & run it like USC did under Carroll. Peterson is now considered the third at best coach in the conference (behind Chip & Shaw).
Last, as far as academics, saying ND is not top notch is silly. Outside of Ivy & Stanford, they are next. The proof is in the pudding.
Sorry for having to lay it all out, but some on here are so out of touch with reality it is insane. So I tried to put facts without belittling UW.
P.S. Stop tweeting recruits. That’s not cool & Kyler said he didn’t appreciate it... -
when old man winter is getting involved in recruiting talk, you know someone struck a nerve.

Salvon makes running back an A+ rather easily.
When you make Mcgrew look shitty you know it's legit. -
The RB depth might not be perfect after Salvon, but it's something you can practically fix in one class if you recruit well enough. RBs can come in and produce right away.
-
I think McGrew is just shitty regardlessDoogles said:Salvon makes running back an A+ rather easily.

Zero faith in Amandre Williams and Justis Warren? :-)Dennis_DeYoung said:One of the big keys to me is always looking into recruiting across two cycles, since those are the guys most likely to play with each other.
If we look at what we are getting over two years so far, it's really nice.
EDGE: D
2017: Tryon
2018:
THE REST OF THE WAY:
You can see pretty easily that life will improve a lot with maybe one more DT, an EDGE guy and a couple more DBs. Maybe an OL. If we get quality there, we are going to be in the B and up category pretty much everywhere.
NEXT YEAR:
At Edge we have always sucked and we will always suck until Coach K stops trying to talk fishing with Kayvon Thibideaux. -

Culp is the answer at BUCK.

Think you need to break up DB into CB and S...CB recruiting has been fine (Taylor was playing CB, Molden was CB/slot, Hampton is CB, hopefully Gordon will be CB/slot), but if we don't get Irvin (and I think even they said we was being looked at as a CB) the only true S we've recruited the last 2 years will be McKinney. Considering we are losing Turner this year and JoJo and possibly Rapp next year that makes it a pretty thin position.
No clue who the 2019 options will be there but I would think it would be a priority for the coaches.

Kent Love moved to Safety and so did Gilchrist.HoustonHusky said:Think you need to break up DB into CB and S...CB recruiting has been fine (Taylor was playing CB, Molden was CB/slot, Hampton is CB, hopefully Gordon will be CB/slot), but if we don't get Irvin (and I think even they said we was being looked at as a CB) the only true S we've recruited the last 2 years will be McKinney. Um...check the title/scope of the thread. Hopefully both will be decent, although it doesn't say much that McKinney came in and immediately jumped them in the depth chart.RhythmicSlappingDawg said:

That's only a 1 year separation, and McKinney was a lot more polished coming out. I think this is more due to McKinneys talent than anything about Love/Gilchrist.HoustonHusky said:
