A simple twist of fate

So at any rate The Drive flames out at 4 minutes with a chopper crash short of the line on 4th down. I'm drunk, high and pissed so I say to myself fuck this lets see who won as in UTAH fucking beat us at home. As I check my phone the winning FG is posted.
Now I am intrigued. We gave up the ball at 4 minutes and somehow score 10 points to win? We hadn't stopped UTAH much all night but we did? I enjoyed the rest of the broadcast so much I watched it twice.
This funk that settled in at ASU and has remained through a 2-2 stretch that should have been 1-3. Two things give me hope.
1. Despite how retarded Browning looked and the little fact that he failed on 4th down again, his chopper ride was so much more than the curled up fetus look he tried at Stanford on 4th down, that I think it actually fired up his team a bit. Like, hey he's still a retard but no longer a pussy! Then he leads the drives to 10 points. Baby steps.
2. Winning is always better than losing. I don't recall a game under Petersen that had this kind of a twist ending. Where we won a game we so clearly deserved to lose. The kids seemed really happy at the end. This can only help the confidence going forward.
All that being said, Jake Browning sucks but we're stuck with him. He seems to enjoy the Apple Cup. Let's roll.
10 wins is devalued but when the graphic on the screen says Clemson has 7 straight ten win seasons nobody stops to say which ones were 10-4 and which ONE was the national title. Recruits and their parents look at that shit.
And lets not forget that no matter how EASY it is to win 10 games these days UW managed NOT to until last year. Its a process and if you don't like it take it up with Pete or Nick.
I think that might have been a bigger win that we think now. I think our DAWGS better get used to teams giving every thing they have to beat us? It's all part of growing.
Big dogs like Bama have played 44 games the last three years heading into this season. With a target. It is mentally and physically draining. You have to have a way to cope or you're just another one hit wonder.
Fuck off

Browning’s Sage Rosenfels helicopter move was hopeless and ill-advised, but god damn it was also badass and gutsy and he deserves a lot of credit for it. It’s as if he internalized all of the hatred that’s been thrown his way these last few weeks, said “fuck it”, and decided he was willing to die on a live broadcast for everyone to see. And then to come back and actually orchestrate two scoring drives after that was truly clutch. I don’t care if it was against a shit team like Utah that probably only means the difference between the Holiday Bowl and the Alamo Bowl, Jake deserves mad respect for that.
That being said, Jake Browning still sucks. -

What pissed me off more than anything is that Stanford will win the north. Shaw is a crappy coach, but that smug jerk will get another "what a great coach" award. Even the Stanford fans agree he is horrible and one "Love, McCaffery" recruit away from being exposed.

So Bammer's has recruited 101 x 4/5 start kids in the past five classes. We'd have to axe an expurt here (hi @CokeGreaterThanPepsi ) what their attrition rate is, but, say, it's something high like 30% - that's still 70 plus blue chips kids on the roster, or as you say, 3 deeps at every position. You can overcome a lot of shitty coaching decisions and every team in America gunning for you with that.RaceBannon said:And that's why you recruit three deep

Jake is terrible and that was an awful play in and of itself. We can’t ignore that on literally FIRST, SECOND and THIRD down of the very next series he completely shit himself.
In fact he threw an easy pick 6 right into the hands of a Ute, but he was too surprised to catch it.
Then Jake made one fucking decent throw. Then another one. Then a good one.
And his confidence grew a bit.
Jake Browning is a god awful pussy, but I’m hoping he gains some confidence from this and at least plays like his normal self (which is B+ at best, but whatever) against WSU instead of his “I literally do nothing right” show that he’s been putting on all year this year.
When Jake is “on” he’s average and that’s all we’ll need. When he’s off, he is a program killing enemy agent.

I lost a lot of money on Sage turning it over 3x in the last five minutes including that helicopter fumble. -

Browning has obviously become rattled. It’s evident every week. A physically limited QB who is rattled makes for disaster. We have seen this before.
Wishful thinking, but the late game throws will hopefully give him momentum so he can play at a higher level. He most likely still sucks though. -
I still think if Jake can get some real confidence he can be a good college quarterback. Maybe being a senior is what it will take.
Hopefully being a senior is what it takes... Because that's all we got. -
Jake's definitely earned this week's honors. -
I enjoyed it so much I read it twice
-
I'm sure he could be better if he had a better fucking QB coach, for starters. That's why firing Smiffy would kill two birds with one stone. No "elite" coach would keep that fuck on staff. Wanna be elite, Pete? Dump that piece of shit Smiff.phineas said:I still think if Jake can get some real confidence he can be a good college quarterback. Maybe being a senior is what it will take.

It's nice that a shitty season now qualifies as 11-2. This year was a failure but we are still out of 7-6 purgatory. Petersen can still build this thing even more. It will clearly need some changing though, I trust that this off season he will patch up some of the bullshit.
Jake's ceiling is Pac-12 champ, and he requires a very balanced team to achieve that. Last year's team had that, this year showed serious weakness in our depth at certain positions from injuries. It is up to Petersen to bring in the guys who can get players 3 deep to really get to that next level because injuries will always happen.
Pissed but also happy that I am this pissed over 2 losses. With Sark I just started laughing after the 3rd or 4th loss because you knew exactly what you were getting. -

Like I said, not black enough to pull it off @DDY, but give him major props for risking life and limb to try. Browning may have grown up tremendously in that game, and going forward he may be better for it. Who the fuck knows? Obviously his qb coach sucks and hasn't helped him in this process. He's a senior next year and will have some major weapons, along with some serious beef on the O-Line. Gaskin returning will be huge. The black beast will be a monster. Losing Pettis will hurt, and fuck pease and his shit recruiting. Hopefully Gaskin and Savon can tear shit up next year with a talented O-line. Think of it this way. Nick Harris at center as an upperclassman....GreenRiverGatorz said:Browning’s Sage Rosenfels helicopter move was hopeless and ill-advised, but god damn it was also badass and gutsy and he deserves a lot of credit for it.
